Solar panels are HIDEOUS. They are increasingly common eyesore on British roofs everywhere. What's the point? By the time these people break financially even Nuclear fission will have been mastered, and besides they are probably devaluing their houses

"hideous"?. might not have the aesthetics of thatch, but what eyesore is a dark panel compared to red tiles, grey slate? or a velux window? and how is £'000s free electricity devaluing a house?

i look forward to nuclear fusion being mastered in the next 10 years. like the said ten years ago. (fission is what we already have btw)

Simple - TB could claim he's over 60 and claim 'em all for free - that would save a few BOB during evening matches after all the day's southern sunlight stored up in the special ULTRA AALBION batteries

Regardless of the the Stadium is open 7 days a week from early to late including offices for the Albion, medical centre, bar, shop, conferences, weddings etc etc etc. The place is basically never closed.

And if you drive past late at night, appears to have lots of lights on too.

Wrong.

Example 1 - My parents are both over 60 so had them installed for free. Instantly making savings on their electric.

Example 2 - An ex-colleague fitted them himself. Total cost £4000. Currently making £200 per month from them (with no electric bill), so in 20 months (max) he would have made his money back. He's only had them since October, so not been able to catch in on the longest days yet.

sounds a bit high to me. You also have to have them fitted by a MCS contractor to access the FIT scheme and the maximum size for a domestic installation is 4kwh. We have just under that and have made about £160 from the tarrif in the last 3 months (albeit winter). Does this £200 include savings on electricity used?

I think it's a great idea but was shouted down on this forum when I raised it over a year ago. I was "told" that there wasn't enough sunlight in the UK and that I was stupid for having raised the point!!

the poster obviously knows little about solar panels....this is a terrible idea for so many reasons.
