I thought Capaldi was brilliant, although it wasn't anywhere near the best episode I've ever seen.

Liked the "Trigger's Broom" nod and even the obviously unplanned nod to Robin Williams - "oh captain, my captain".

The first tennant episode and first matt smith episodes were poor as well, let him grow into the role.

I thought Capaldi was really good in the role. Initially I was worried he was going to play it very Jon Pertwee, which was a worry to me, but it had far more of the Tom Baker about it. Really looking forward to the next stories now. What wasn't good was another slab of crap from Stephen Moffat and having to have Madame Vastra and the gang along but I'm sure the scripts will improve too.

Diabolical, but then I've only enjoyed a handful of episodes since it came back in 2005. I just can't stand the melodrama and pandering to non-sci-fi fans.

I doubt i'll be watching next week.
