So...why should we buy season tickets?

The majority are agreed season tickets cost too much, yes?

Well, the standard response for the last decade has been for this to be justified by us 'keeping the club alive as we can't afford to operate at an athletics track'.


Well, we've just had a multi-millionaire agree to put £90 million quid into the club. So if we had 5000 STH's at £350, there presumably wouldn't be much long term damage that wouldn't exist if we have 3500 STH's at £450 a ticket (apart from a slightly bigger hole in Bloom's pocket).

I don't seriously think Bloom should pay for everything, and I don't think he should spunk silly money on players this summer, but I no longer see 'keeping the club alive' good justification for f***ing ridiculous prices.

Me? I'll have a season of buying tickets off here, in the pub, or winning them from the Argus. £450, you're having a LAUGH.

I'm not sure your point to the Insider about early bird prices is valid. I got my first ever season ticket last season and was eligible for the early bird prices so that doesn't suggest it's only for renewing season ticket holders does it?

The problem is the travel voucher tho.

Id imagine they are worth about £4 on every ticket, so thats nearly £100 over a season. It could be argued that a season ticket costs £320

Could get tickets off here for the Man City/Stockport games. Both sell outs. Think I only paid full price twice last year. I bet it'll be a similar story next year.

I pay just under £18 for every game. Know where I'm going to sit and that my mate is in the seat next to me (when he remembers to turn up). Yes, occassionally get wet but what the hell.

Getting tickets is easy when we've had a home season like the last one. But what if we are successful and competing at the top. How many whingers will be on here complaining.

The early bird prices are open to everyone before June 11th, it's quite clear on the website. I'm actually getting one this year for the first time since 2003/4, because the 5 installments of £80 is pretty managable for me. I know one other definite who is in the same boat, and a couple of mabyes.

I think the club has actually got it right on this occasion, £397 isn't that bad and I'm sure that will be reflected in the numbers.

You're just pissed off because your own personal circumstance doesn't allow you to get an ST this year. I'm sure there are plenty of people on lower incomes that can't afford one either, I don't see anyone other than students bleating about the price.
What about anyone on minimum wage or benefit support, are you going to speak up for them as well?

At the end of the day, if you want one that bad, I'm sure any person intelligent enough to go to university will be able to think of a way to get £80 a month for the next 5 months.

2. To avoid the hassle of getting a ticket every couple of weeks;

Likewise.. I'm no longer an STH as I can't afford it at the moment, but if the relative cost of the travel portion is £100 per season and this was knocked off an ST for those that didn't need it then i'd probably try that bit harder to find the money

It is not hard to get one off tickets for any home games, the going rate is normally £15, it is easy to get them for £10, and sometimes every few weeks there are always FREE tickets which people cant get rid of for love nor money

Its just the hassle of trying to get a spare every week, but if you do manage it, as I did for a whole season (one before last) you save yourself a bit of money, paying less than £300 for all the home games in one season

Ahhhh - FACTS.

Unfortunately some refuse to even acknowledge this. It's much easier to have a whinge at the club instead of realising there is nothing they can do about it.

It's not the value of the individual travel voucher that is relevant. The Club pays money (as lump sums) to the transport operators. It raises the cash to do this from the travel voucher element of all tickets sold.

If they offered some tickets without travel vouchers, the price of all the other tickets would have to increase to maintain income levels and ensure that the funds were available to pay the bus and train operators.

When we get to Falmer, another way of raising money to pay for the transport costs would be to use car parking fees. That, of course, isn't an option available at Withdean.
