Blond guy could be Hutchings but guessing without seeing it

Article in today's Times about Curbs and Wilkins playing together at Brighton and now opposing managers in the cup on Sat. accompanied by a photo of a group of Albion players defending a free kick.

Again, havent seen the photo but I'd imagine the blonde bloke would more likely be Gary Nelson that anyone else.

Nope, not Gary. Would have recognised him.

Looks very much like Garry Nelson(99% certain it is) and the black bloke looks like Mike Small.

It all fits in with the play-off season in 1991 which is roughly the year the article is talking about.

According to "Seagulls, Story of Brighton & Hove Albion" Curbishley was not playing for Brighton in 1990/91. His last season was 89/90 which was the season before Mike Small was signed. Curbs played 87/88, 88/89 and 89/90.

I guess the blond guy could be Gary Nelson.

The black guy must be Keith Dublin.

Any other ideas?

It looks like Nelson, but a bit taller than I remember him. If it is Steve Penney though, then that is in the pre-Nelson era.

Haven't seen The Times one, but it may be the one that's in the Arsegas today - Curbishley, Chivers, Nelson, Wilkins, Penney, Dublin and Gatting.

Haven't seen the Argus, but probably is the same photo ... except the Times cut Gatting off.
