With two of Winstanley's pet strikers seemingly shipped out but Ali J staying who is really calling the shots here? Kyle Macauley, Dan Ashworth, Potter or our actual recruitment head? I can't help but think there is a bit of a power play going on right now and I know who I think will win it. All just my opinion of course, absolutely no info either way.

More importantly:-

I think ultimately the final decision is with Potter

Like it was with Hughton then? Players that Hughton often left out in favour of his established first teamers, which was part at least of the reason he lost his job - and Potter ships 'em out almost before his nameplate is screwed to the manager's door.
This'll be a lot of fascinating revelations in some old-timer's autobiography in about twenty odd years' time.

Recruitment or retention?

Point being they are two sides of the same coin. Everyone was pleased as punch when we signed Maupay as we had a genuine range of options up front at that point and could have deployed anything we wanted across the front 3 in terms of style. The first time it was unleashed at Watford we won 3-0.

Now, I'm not defending Locadia and Andone per se. I'd have driven Locadia to Germany myself and Andone certainly has issues, yet we seemed to have made it work on opening day. However, with our options now all but closed we've binned off the pair and left our three strikers as a player in their late 30s with great game sense and finishing but no pace or understanding of the offside rule, an untried 20 million siging from Brentford and a youth team player. At least one player in to replace the two bits of dead wood might just have been an idea.

However - I am not a billionairre, not a football manager, not a recruitment specialist and my data analysis skills are limited to financial data. I am willing to accept that everyone making these decisions is more skilled and expert than me. I am a mere fan. But, from where I'm sitting, getting rid of Locadia and Andone without a replacement says "cut your nose off to spite your face".

I'd love this thread to be bounced as our three utterly different "number 9s" take the Premier League by storm but no one should be holding their breath.

Recruitment? I'm not sure there is anyone at the club that actually knows what that means at least for a club that apparently has designs to stay in the Premier League.
