So what would make NSC better?

i kind of think that if there was a seperate forum for football and general chit chat that would be anti what NSC is about - isn't that what makes it more than a football forum?

i stand by my view that cricket should have its own forum however. cricket can leave.

However the cricket threads are the best ones on here, they tend not to kick off.

I would like there to be some kind of way I could express my posts on NSC through the medium of dance.

I guess they are a bit like text speak, good for those that cannot write a joined up sentence.

I may be blowing my own trumpet but I would suggest that my use of English (with smilies) is just as good as yours (without them) :censored::ohmy:

Indeed - they are the last bastian of 'old fashioned' sporting values - as you'd expect with cricket... toodle pip. :clap2:

We are looking at this from the perspective of a long Summer without any football - it's important to remember that I think. European footy would have left less of a vaccuum that was filled with some inspired threads (HKFC votes for example) and a lot of toilet.

The result of all of this should be that more people WANT to use NSC and want to contribute - I believe that we haven't just lost posters of long standing, we're probably getting fewer users posting for fear of getting abuse.

Removing - or at least monitoring - a handful of herberts will make a massive difference. But we've all agreed that the Red Triangle appears to be the most appropriate route to deal with these posters. NSC users will alert the Mods more often and Bozza is forming a code that will allow warnings/bans to be applied more consistently.

The most important issue is probably what constitutes unacceptable behaviour - and therefore what will be incorporated into that code of conduct.

There was a great comment on here in the last couple of days evidently from a Dad who wants his kids to grow up to be BHA fans and who sees NSC as a critical part of the process of induction. His question was "would I want my nine year old daughter to read this?". We can't legislate the whole of NSC down to that level, but we could use it as a touchstone for creating the code. Perhaps in fairness it should be a 12 year old or whatever, but the principle is a good one. And if threads are drifting into the more adult areas, then a label similar to NSFW could be used perhaps?

The recent use of NSFW on threads has been a good one and seems to be working. O/T (I assume meaning not about football) has lapsed a bit. I personally love the non-football chat mixed in with the footy stuff - but O/T in the title might make it clearer to people.

Some specifics:

Is there any need to use the "c" word and other obviously offensive words on NCS - never.
Is there ever a reason to directly abuse another user - no.
Should there be heated debate and even argument - damn right.

Some other issues are more open to interpretation (or perspective). For example racism, homophobia and mysogynism can all be interpreted. The Red Triangle will come in to play here. If enough people find the comments unacceptable - and they use the Red Triangle to advise the Mods - something will get done.

My last thought is that all topics should be mixed together, but that if the Mods feel a topics is moving to a bad place, then there should be a "bin". It's then up to users if they want to rummage through the bin to read threads.

We already have one of those. :)

How about dishing out some warnings to some of our more superior posters for they're constant belittling of other posters for they're lack of grammer and spelling? It serves no purpous other than to incite conflict and undermine the work put in by the Albion in the community in trying to help people with learning difficulties.

Once or twice a month, there's a post that's outright racist - not 'arguably' or by implication.

I suspect most posters/readers don't know how to respond. So we tend to ignore.

Should be an immediate ban surely? It's not about protecting people from being offended - nothing wrong with offending people to make them think. But abusing a minority (probably on the assumption that 'they' aren't reading NSC) is active discrimination. IE it's an absolute, not relative - so should be immediate ban, not points towards a ban. It's not a game.

I think that the main problem is that over time, people have posted on here, and enjoyed themselves, and invited their friends to post on here too (which is a great thing), they then do the same thing, and invite their friends.

Add this to the fact that people have now been posting on here for some years and built up friendships off line as a result.

This has resulted in big groups of friends that are very obvious on here, and if one of them is picked on their friends chip in to defend their mate and it escualtes into something big, much like when Drogba gets his hair touched and you get all the Chelsea players running from 60 yards to slap the opposition and scream at the ref.

Absolutely.

Minimum 7 day ban - for a 1st offence,
Permanent ban - for any repeat.
