"people he heard things off" eh? Well what do you think perpetuates and exacerbates and catalyzes all the rumours (many DIFFERENT rumours all coming from 'reliable sources')? Of COURSE he heard from 'people'.
I've heard things "from people", but then other "people" completely refute what those other "people" said because each little story has differed, and come from a range of sources.
I wouldn't be surprised if DK and DW have different versions and views of events, but even within men's minds there exists the wonderful creative ability to whip up a new viewpoint, a new version of the hows and whyfores.

Now you can say you heard from another "people", and TLO can keep maintaining that his "people" are closer to 'the know' and more believable than all other "people".

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm not claiming to know 'the truth' and despite some of his postings yesterday I don't think TLO is either. Fact is he's heard some information/opinions, it's interesting and he's more than happy to share it with people in private. The only reason he hasn't put it up here is because the people involved have asked him not to.

Back to basic facts, Dean Wilkins was not expecting it, and was shocked to be fired.

His players were not expecting it, and were shocked he was fired.

That the board *probably* decided to do it from January onwards, and *probably* approached Adams well before the deed was done, are rather more than likely.

Possibly, it could be that the board were split during this period, and decided to give him more time.

To me, the whole affair *suggests* that simply, the board *probably* did not take well to DW as a union representative for the players.

Possibly, but do we know that DW was a union rep?

A messier, but safer option for DW, may have been for players and/or their agents to approach the board as a gaggle of individual malcontents (starting with Hammond, Bas and O'C). The language of that would have been somewhat interesting and resulted in much more disruption, and yes the board would *probably* still have laid the blame at Wilkins' table.

Seems odd that given the players had agents, that they would use DW as a Trojan horse to get their way. Someone as strong willed as G O'C surely would have got stuck in himself with DK.

And fair point, what do I think DW is thinking? Well I guess he is pissed off he was treated so unfairly by the club. Sad that he was not allowed to continue his great progress with the squad of youngsters. Apprehensive that this may have scuppered his long term career prospects. Touched by the support of a large number of committed Albion fans that respect everything he has done at the club over the years. And fed up of sitting at home watching Jeremy Kyle and eating cheesey Wotsits.

I'm not saying DK is the only source of negativity surrounding DW or that you got your info directly from him, I know that you did not. But Knight has been the end source of a lot of the rumours. Plus when other chairman ask him for a verbal refernce for DW do you seriously think that he will be overly positive?

Blooming heck Lokki - I am sure he will be honest. I am sure he will be positive about the positive things. He may even be glowing in his reference - but just that he was not right for us - where DK felt we were then.

As I have consistently said - the comment about Wilkins that I heard came directly from a football agent who had been told by the agent of a player who was renewing his contract with the club (unsuccessfully it turned out).

Now if I as a commonal garden fan can hear this from an agent, then I'm sure any other football chairmen out there will have heard it too.

I have never heard a comment since wilkins left from a director or shareholder of this football club and I did not hear a negative comment from the chairman prior to his departure.

But as I've only spoken to the chairman twice in 3 years (the last time being at the falmer digging day) that is hardly surprising.

Blimey - you must be cynical. He clearly isn't going to say he is the next Ferguson - otherwise why sack him - but what benefit is there for him in being anything other than honest about a coach who he employed for so many years.

When he got the push I assumed there was stuff behind the scenes that we didn't know about. I am amazed it is not out in the public domain. It does make you think it must have been pretty trivial.

more than likely - it was probably more like inefficiency than gross misconduct. For what it's worth, I firmly believe to this day that Wilkins would probably have stayed but for the comments from Paul Reid re when he was told he was no longer wanted and Wilkins referred him to the chairman if he wasn't happey

It neither makes Wilkins nor Knight the devil.
