I hope all the Halifax carpet-baggers lost their shares in the collapse of HBOS. I was one of about 2 people who voted against the de-mutualisation of a once great building society.

It's a pleasure to meet the other "NO" voter after all this time!

Yep, and let's hope these clowns call an election soon, and we can get them back in. Your personal prejudice is understood, but under the last Conservative administration it was never this bad, that is my personal opinion.

either way, the current government are shot, they are completely rudderless, time to go. There is only one alternative who can get elected, get used to it, they will be in next time. And those who don't like that will have to accept it, just like those of us who prefer the Conservative option have had to put up with the current government during these past disasterous years.

how would you say that the derugulations that she implemented have affected/caused the current market conditions ?

Well for starters the culture in the city was much different. Pre big bang the city was pretty parochial and wouldn't have been involved in the trading of financial instruments exposed to us sub-prime mortgage debt.

is i think even you would admit, a pretty piss poor response.???

No I wouldn't. But then I'm not going to write a bloody three thousand word essay on how the deragulation of the markets has contributed to the current world financail crisis and it's effects on the Uk economy.

Or perhaps you were expecting a considered discussion of the Thatcherite housing reforms and how they changed the both the culture of home ownership and the attitude to debt in the UK.

The Thatcher governments of the 80's made the biggest changes to the UK since the Atlee administration. If you're being adult about it you have to accept that while some of these changes have benefited us, they are also contributing to the current economic conditions.

Sorry but you obviously haven't a clue what you talking about. Before you consider reposting do some research on the city of london pre big bang and how it's changed in the twenty years since. You have such a rose tinted view of the Iron Lady that you can't accept that some of what is happening now is a direct consequence of the reforms implemented by the conservative governments in the 1980's. It's not prejudice, it's fact.
