I was just thinking the same, both Thornton and Birchall have had a rough ride at this club as far as team selections have gone.

Thornton is the one that got away. When he played he looked like he really had the passion as well as the skill (a rare combination for a Brighton midfielder) and is exactly the type of player we need. I wouldn't be suprised if he moves on in the summer as he seemed slightly unsettled at Cov but there's surely no chance he would consider coming back down here now.

I saw a little bit a Orient were in my eyes he played very well. He may be slow and a wee bit overweight but he lacks confidence and his crossing is actually very much better than the other wingers.

TO be fair, it's not "disgraceful" really. No-one is forcing these players to play on loan. To be honest, it's the fault of the club and one of THICKY's shit legacies. He pissed his funds up the wall on a shed load of average/unfit/journeyman/expensive loan players who OBVIOUSLY are not going to be as committed as a signed-up equivalent.

That said, get rid of the transfer window. It only encourages thick managers like THICKY to bring them in.

Well in the case of the loan players it isnt disgraceful but Birchall is here to supposedly win another contract and be in it for the long haul and to be looking elsewhere when the teams in crisis simply isnt good enough.

I keep banging on about Steve Brinkhurst, but until there lads are given a chance, we are never going to know how good or not they are.

If mancherster united can play 17 year olds ( OK they are probably the best 17 year olds in the world right now) when the risk is hundreds of millions of pounds in not winning the Premiership or Champions League, it puts our risk of dropping down one division into perspective( which lets face it we are already down anyway).

Agreed. After all our own players CANNOT do any worse than the loanees. As bad, yes, but worse, never in a million years. Plus we might get to see a bit of fight as opposed to players going through the motions whilst thinking "thank f*** I don't really play for this lot."

I must admit I wouldnt feel overly loyal if I was only offered a short term deal. Commitment is a two-way road. I agree with the first post....6 month deals are a waste of most people's time.

I am disappointed in McLeod for not getting himself fit (you would think this is the least a footballer could do) but yes, as you say possibly the biggest problem is that the coaching staff do not appear to be getting him fit with a special fitness regime or something similar. He's another we need to get off the wage bill at the end of the season as he can't be cheap.

I think a certain overweight physio has been a bit over run with injuries this year. I've never known a season like it. I know its not just Malcom but he does do a huge bulk of the work on injuries and maybe he cant deal with so many or the people around him aren't qualified enough to get the players fit within a reasonable amount of time.

For instance Murray's injury could have been better dealt with.

Exactly. I feel so bad that i had a go at him and the fact Fraser laid into him shows that there is a hideous lack of communication. I had no idea that he was injured but for the players/fraser to not know is really not good enough. Again this shows weaknesses on the hole set up of our team

The problem with putting injured players on the bench is you get a Murray/ Wallcott situation whereby they come back half fit and end up getting injured for ages.

There was an astonished Colchester fan who posted on here just after we signed him; he commented that McLeod was normally overweight and rarely fit when he was with them.

Add Livermore to that and possibly Virgo! When they have played it has rarely been in their favoured positions.

How Fraser continually got/gets picked ahead of Livermore (when he was here) and Birchall defies belief.
