Does anybody else remember Slade at the Goldstone before a match round about 77/78 recording the video for a single called (I think) 'Give us a Goal'?
I was about 11 or 12 at the time. I remember the NS only singing things like "Who the f*%#ing hell are you?" and " You're just a bunch of w&$£ers" at full volume, much to Slades dismay. But somehow the video was still made. Lots of shots of BHA fans in blue and white scarves.
The NS still had a roof at the time and must have been chosen because of the great atmosphere it made. I saw the video just once on TV soon after, but the song wasn't a hit. It would be great to see it again now.

I think it was a game against Wolves and didn't they try and record something "christmassy" as well . Bizarre as it was around October time. Long time ago so I could be wrong.

Dandyman

In London village.
It was released in March 1978 and "suprisingly" failed to chart.:D

Most of the people I knew then were rather more in The Jam, Clash, Stranglers, various reggae artists, etc...

I was there and I'm pretty sure it was before a game against Burnley, although one of Slade was wearing a Wolves scarf.

Not one of their better songs.

Give Us A Goal

Let's go

Let's go

Let's just call a whip off
A drink before the kick off
Get in the mood for Saturday's game

Five to three they zip on
The lads have got the strip on
We're gonna thrash you ain't that a shame

We'll beat ya defeat ya
We're ready to roll
Stop your fancy fooling 'round and give us a goal

We'll chase ya then race ya
You can't catch a cold
Stop your fancy footwork now and give us a goal

Give it to the winger
All the crowds a singer
We're gonna take the top off the stands

Rattling there rattles
Then powerful in their tackles
Get together clapping your hands

We'll beat ya defeat ya
We're ready to roll
Get the ball into the net and give us a goal

A blaster right past ya
You're losing control
You're playing now with two left feet and they've got a goal

Break

Let's Go

Hear the crowds a howling
Hey did ya see the fouling
The ref needs specs he's deaf dumb and blind

Shoot you silly fool
Ok now show 'em we rule
The goalie's sat down on his behind

We'll beat ya defeat ya
We're ready to roll
Come on the lad now no mistakes just give us a goal

We'll skin ya we'll win ya
Cos we're back in control
Come on the lads you got it made now give us a goal

We'll chase ya and we'll race ya
Cos they can't catch a cold
More more shoot score give us a goal

Stop your fancy footwork now and give us a goal

:goal:

Yeah, I was there.

I was a bit of a Slade nut, and was disappointed at the North Stand's reaction.

The reason Dave Hill (I think it was) was wearing a Wolves scarf would have been that they come from there.

As has been said, they've made better records!

:clap2: Brilliant

Cant we get it re-released, being that its quite easy to get a chart hit nowadays that would be ace on top of the pops.

Disclaimer: I dont have a sound card at work so could actually hear it :D

I was there. Noddy Holder wore a blue and white scarf (presumably to try to get the crowd on his side). Like the poster, I saw the video only once and was amazed at how they'd managed to edit it to look like the North Stand crowd were joining in with the song.

Wow! I was going to post saying "I was there and I think it was Burnley actually", when I realised I'd already done it - nearly 3 years ago!

Who on earth has so much time on their hands they can trail through the NSC archives resurrecting these old threads?

Wow - top link SJ! Now I've seen it twice. That brought back some great memories. Actually its a great video, its a pity that the song is so awful.
