Russell Slade lived in my village for two years when he moved down to manage Yeovil. He is a good sort and has a good managerial record. I can't find anyone locally with a bad word to say about him - all Yeovil fans blame the board for the sacking and are behind Slade. News of his sacking, incidently, was posted on their website at 3.00pm just as Yeovil were kicking off against Peterborough. Did he know as he led the team out? I suspect their 3-1 win was the players' response to losing their manager. I don't think he would move if the contract was just to the end of the season - he has two children in our village primary - unless he has already moved back up north where he has kept on his family home. I would be surprised if he were to uproot them again for a few months. I had an inkling he would be our manager and I think he would be good for us. He left Grimsby because they didn't have ambition after he took them to the play offs and I suspect that Yeovil did not give him the backing he wanted to take them forward. The fans here have been promised all will be revealed over the sacking but the silence is very telling.

I also hear that the reason Owusu left Yeovil was that he fell out with Slade as he has a deejaying sideline and he found out Owusu was playing in a club in Yeovil (there's only one!) when he should have been tucked up in bed the night before the game!

The problem with Slade is that since Noddy left they really haven't done anything of note. From what I can see they tend to be living on past glories - not sure if the club needs this at the moment - although Jimmy Lea's violin playing at half time would be worth seeing.
