So upset they've lowered this one to a PG. One of my favourite ever Bond's was License to Kill, the only 15 rated of the series, mainly for that grizzly shark scene and the fact that they also murdered the wife of that previously mentioned shark-eaten-man. If they want to emulate the Bourne success (as they have aimed towards style wise with the last two) they need more gore. Naturally I will wait till seeing the film before I make any judgements, but I'm always sceptical of PG's.

So there's Denise through one door, Natalie through the other, you can only go through one door....

Daniel Craig is comfortably, for me, the poorest of all Bonds.

Christ on a bike, worse that Roger Moore ?

I very rarely go to the cinema, but having seen Layer Cake had to go and see Casino Royale. I enjoyed that more than any other Bond film I've seen.

Kermode is very up on this, naturally.
It's interesting what needs to happen for a film to get PG.

In Hunger Games and that recent Daniel Radcliffe film they worked closely with The BBFC while putting the film together.
For HG I think less than 30 secs came right out, but the bulk of the changes where light, music and blood splatter.
Which in the whole scheme of things I don't think had a massive effect on the feel of the film.

You sir are a 24 carat plonker !

NSC is funny isn't it? Someone voices an opinion, and backs it up with his reasons for that opinion, even provides a picture, and gets called names

And can't even do it, in an original format.

Daniel Craig is comfortably, for me, the poorest of all Bonds. Casino Royale was a let down, should never have been written and should not have been a Bond movie, and I paid to buy the Blue Ray. Quantum of Rubbish was rubbish, largly due to Craig, he is wrong for Bond in my opinion. Every bond before him was suave, sophisticated and had an air of something about them, Craig is just an Essex boy.

Don't get me wrong, Craig has it going on, he is a great action actor, but just isn't Bond

I disagree Phil although you are not alone in your opinion. Imo DC represents a nice change of direction for Bond.

I thought Quantum of Solace was dull. I don't mind Craig as Bond but I have to say - as cheesy as they are - I miss the old one-liners, ridiculous gadgets, girls dancing on gun barrels etc.

I get where they've taken Bond and why they felt the need to do it, but to me - like it or not - Bond already had a strong brand and identity. It needed updating of course but not to the extent of being so much like Bourne and taking itself quite so seriously.

When the old Bonds come in telly, I find myself watching the Connery, Moore and Brosnan ones and enjoying them. I can't ever imagine watching either of Craig's efforts again.

D Craig just doesnt seem right. Wooden and as much charisma as a dead newt..

Roger Moore was my fav bond however feel Pierce Brosnan fitted the role very well...

The modern Bond films just aren't like they use to be and as mentioned seem like they are trying to emulate a Bourne film.

I did like Casino Royale but i didn't feel like i was watching a "Bond" film...

I videoed Quantum of Solace, last night, and will watch it tonight.

I saw it upon release at the picturehouse and hated it.
It'll be interesting to see if it's any better with time, and now I know it can't hold a candle to Casino.

The argument over Daniel Craig seems to boil down to whether you want your Bond suave, sophisticated, not a hair out of place, and delivering pithy one-liners. Or whether you want your Bond a bit more rough-edged, tough and a more creditable action hero.

For me, Moore, Brosnan and Dalton are in the same bracket. None of them could possible take a proper punch in the FACE and get up from it, so they lose credibility as a Bond for me. Daniel Craig however looks hard as NAILS and carries himself like a bloke you really wouldn't f*** about with. So for me, Craig is a FAR better Bond because he is more plausible as a double-hard double-agent.

And Casino Royal was the best Bond film since the Connery days. Easily.

Well I'm a little confused now.
The start was better than I remembered, either side of the opening credits.
The boat 'fight' came a little to soon after the rollercoaster start.
Which highlights the problem with the film.

There's no bloody story/plot.

The opera sequence was again better than I remembered, but the whole Quantum storyline just didn't materialise.

I kept waiting for the film to just 'stop',but I didn't and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought.
If only they had put some meat on the bones, it could and should have been so much better.

Definitely worth another look, with no hype surrounding it.

Oh and they've got to do something about the product placement.

I really enjoyed both Craig films, I think hes quality.

They had to move away from the total cheese fest that they had become.

Well I like Brosnan and Craig! Both excellent in their own ways.

After the debate on here I settled down to watch Casion Royale yesterday. AMAZING. The opening sequence was something else.

I don't think the problem lies with the actors, I think Bond is losing its identity as a unique brand it is just chasing the coat tails of Bourne now and not doing it as well. The cheesiness was part of the Bond brand and they had the actors to make it work, I don't mind the direction change but they have to keep something unique and not just a Bourne clone. That said I though Quantum of Solace was awful which ever camp your in, the plot was non existent and Bond just didn't work.

When did you last see it.
I was surprised how well Bond did work.
Craig and The Denchmeister do rock there way through the film, which as I said is better than I remembered.

Sh*te plot though.
