Casino Royale was on another level. QoS was a steaming pile of turd which made little to no sense.

Casino Royale also has one of the best opening title sequences and Bond themes in recenty memory.

I was going to mention, the title sequence.
I didn't ff through it, always a good sign.

Other little highlights:-
Bond smashing his way through the wall.
The fellas getting Bond to park their car.
His arrogance checking in.
The nail in the eye.

Best of all, though,
Bond catching and LUZZING the gun back @ the bomb maker, class.

Just a shame about the product placement, I hope Mendes can rein it in.

Abort, retry, fail
There is an article in the Daily Mail about this today, highlighting the fact that Naomie Harris is the first black woman to play Moneypenny.

There are some quite typical reader comments underneath the article, of the "over my dead body" variety

I see what you mean!

No no no no You cannot have a black Moneypenny. No disrespect to the woman I'm sure she is a very good actress. Another nail in the coffin for the Bond franchise

We'll be having a black or Asian Bond next. All well and good as long as it works the other way too - fictional black characters being played by white actors?

- LISA, IN COGNITO, 4/11/2011 13:39

Politcial correctness to the point of completely changing the original character, madness.

I found Casino Royale very, very poor - I think I lasted maybe an hour before giving up. QoS I thought was even worse - Craig is dire as bond, cringingly wooden.

I'll put you down as a maybe then.

Really looking forward to this one, I think it's good that there has been a big gap between films, I just hope it's worth the wait.

Weird, I thought CR was the best Bond film for years, and Craig is the best Bond since Connery. The last few films with Brosnan in were dire, it needed a massive change.

I'm not a huge fan of the entire series - mainly becasue they've been shown on TV too many times, but I thought DCs acting ability to be absolutely zilch in these (although I do seem to remember a film with him in that I quite liked, but can't remember what it was off-hand). All personal taste I guess, not for me.

Of the Brosnan/Craig films I'd order them:

Casino Royale
GoldenEye
Tomorrow Never Dies
Quantum of Solace
The World is Not Enough

Die Another Day

Amazing. I was blown away by Casino Royale, it was the first Bond film I'd watched as an adult without rolling my eyes every five minutes. I think Daniel Craig is by far the best Bond we've had since Sean Connery. I guess if you're not into poker it could be a bit of a bore though, was that it ?

Agreed. Casino Royale is the only Bond film I own, head and shoulders above most other Bond films.
