The boozer in Haywards Heath that I used to watch live SKY footy in has closed and I need some ideas for a replacement in the Burgess Hill/Haywards Heath area before tomorrow night (Weds).
Ideally a reasonably civilised one and not one that will be full of 12 year old, Fake Burberry wearing knobs, high on Alcopop fumes and running around the pool table swearing all evening.
I think I must be getting old as a pub like that would have constituted a great night out a few years ago!
Anyway, ideas please. Thanks.

Ummm...I think The Star in HH has Sky. Fatboy would know.

Don't bother with that poncy Orange Square though. They've got a massive f***-off 42" plasma hanging on the back wall, which they use to display their MENU. They show the footy on some poxy little TV next to the bar, with the sound turned down.
Even during the last World Cup, when we asked if there was any chance of putting the football up on the big plasma screen, they wouldn't have it. Wild horses couldn't drag me in that place.

Railway has plenty of screens, though occasionally plenty of Burberrys too if the Turkey play-off game was anything to go by.

Hogshead has only two screens, both in annoying positions which people tend to block off with ease.

Top House will also have the game on.

Railway is the biggest shit hole I have ever been in my life. Went there about 6 months ago and it was like a night out in Luton/Stoke. B.H has gopne downhill in the last 5 years.

Railway's been like that for a considerable time, now. Unfortunately, it still has the best atmosphere for footy. I tend to go and watch in the Top House, though, as it also sells Harveys. :drink: :drink:

Overall, I'd agree with your comment that BH has gone downhill in last 5 years, though I'd put it down to me getting old!

Is the game only on Sky?

I would recommend the Red Lion in Lindfield-about a 3 minute drive from HH station.

BH pubs I have been in watching football have been full of pikeys-same goes for Burrell in HH(not even sure that still has sky)

Another unusual choice would be The Heath in HH. Big screen and it really isn't full of pikeys. Just a few old men at the bar.

Thanks everyone! The Red Lion at Lindfield sounds favourite to me based upon the apparently low readings on the
'Pikey-ometer'. I don't suppose they serve reasonable grub and sell Miller Genuine Draft as well do they? Now that really would be heaven!

Food is ok.

I *think* they have Labatts or something like that as well as Carling and Grolsch.

Don't have much memory of my last trip there as I was made to drink a shot of sambuca with every pint.

I would get there early to get a decent seat/table.

Strange thing is, most of the guys that run the OS are Albion fans!

Getting back to SKY pubs. I think the Burrell has got Sky back now.
United Services Club has a large screen, but you have to be a member!
