Hated Sky. Had many an argument about them trying to charge me to repair my box that I HAD to have to get THEIR service. In the end got bored of the argument everytime it went wrong and went to Virgin. Best move ever. On the two occasions I've rung up I've got straight through and had a repair the next day - AT NO COST !!!!

Oh and the call centre was here rather than India ! What with that and saving £20 a month over Sky, well, I doubt I'll ever go back to those shisters at Sky.

Sky are moving a lot of the call centres to Dublin, so you MIGHT be able to understand them.

Unless they put it in D8, in which case I'd prefer to get Bangalore.

There is no need for a warranty after the box is 12 months old. The annual cost of the warranty more than covers replacing a faulty box when it can cost you nothing. They will want to charge £65 for a service callout charge but it will be waived if they believe you're going to cancel the subscription.

I know, but mum wants it and it's her money.

Just cancelled my sky subscription, last bill was supposed to be £105, but instead checked my bank account to find they had taken £165, took me ringing up on no less than 5 different occasions for them to accept that it was a mistake, and to refund me.
But the refund wasn't instantaneous, as one might expect, but 6 fukking weeks later, they take your money straight away though, funny that! If you were in financial strife that £60 could have resulted in overdraft fees, missed direct debits etc, but they couldn't care a f*** less about that.
Add to that £30 for a router that they give away for free to new customers after my old one packed up, £70 for an engineer after paying them thousands over the years, etc etc etc.

C1JNTS!

I rang Sky last week to cancel the multiroom sub as Russ & Lucy have finally moved out :)O) and went through to a call centre in India and understood the chap a whole lot easier than listening to a local (Grimbrarian) accent.

Blimey, this is an old thread.

I have never gone back to subscribing to Sky. I did however pick up four discarded Sky boxes from Freecycle in order to go digital.

I get my Football fix from free P2P broadcasts.

:D

My original post was dated nearly 6 years ago! Things have moved on

Sky will have realised they were missing out on a cut from all the customers sitting waiting on call lines and closed this loophole.

The 0800 number became inactive about 5 years ago but there is a regular number to call from a landline which in most cases would be free as part of a calls inclusive package. Try this -> 020 7126 7020 as the alternative to the 0844 number.
