Six top performers to watch in the Premier League this season

With Euro 2024 now over, domestic football is back and passionate fans everywhere can’t wait to watch their beloved Premier League clubs in action once again. The world’s biggest and best league is also home to some of the top players on the planet, with football lovers everywhere tuning in to watch some of the game’s greatest entertainers on a weekly basis.

Alongside indulging in other sports, be it through attending major tennis tournaments like Wimbledon, taking in the action at darts events like The World Darts Championship, and assessing any NFL odds before watching the biggest American football encounters, sports fans everywhere also enjoy the entertainment that is typically served up in England’s top flight. A competition that is filled with quality professionals, there are so many standout performers to watch in the Premier League this season.

Erling Haaland is a proven Premier League goal-getter

If varying goals are what you’re after, then tuning in to watch Manchester City’s Erling Haaland is the obvious move to make. Since arriving in England, the Norwegian giant has bagged 63 goals in 66 appearances, a quite staggering return. The Golden Boot winner in the last two campaigns in a row, Haaland is likely to be lethal once again this season.

Van Dijk is Liverpool’s defensive beast

For people with a passion for defending, Virgil van Dijk is a defender with bags of ability. A world-class operator, the Dutchman will be at the heart of Liverpool’s defence this season. It’s worth noting that his standards have dropped a tad after suffering a serious knee injury, but the former Celtic man is still widely regarded as the best centre-back in the competition.

Bukayo Saka is crucial to Arsenal’s chances

If Arsenal are to get their hands on the Premier League trophy this season, then the form of Bukayo Saka could be crucial to their chances. One of England’s top performers at the Euros, Saka consistently delivers in terms of goals and assists. For Arsenal, he’s a key cog in their wheel.

Phil Foden is a key man for City these days

Before last season, there was a strong argument to suggest that Phil Foden hadn’t quite lived up to the hype surrounding him just yet. Fast forward to today, though, and the England international scooped the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award after arguably his best season in a City shirt to date. Operating in a more central role behind the likes of Erling Haaland, Foden is definitely one to watch this season. Foden’s teammate, Kevin De Bruyne, is another player to look out for, particularly as he could be on the move at the end of the campaign.

It could be Mohamed Salah’s last season

If the aforementioned Virgil van Dijk doesn’t entertain you, then his Liverpool teammate, Mohamed Salah, is one of the best players to watch in the league. While the Egyptian goal machine is entering the latter stages of his career, the 32-year-old is still capable of winning games on his own. Arne Slot’s new-look Reds team will rely on Salah this season, while Liverpool's all-time record scorer in the Premier League will be desperate to shine in what looks to be his last campaign for the club.

Tottenham star Son Heung-min is excellent

Without Son Heung-min, it’s fair to say that Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge of Tottenham wouldn’t have gone as well as it did. The South Korean icon has 120 goals and 62 assists in the Premier League to his name, making him a safe bet in terms of match-winning moments this season.
