It has to be Wales again this year - they should get the grand slam too.

I am looking forward to sitting in front of the telly, for the Rugger tommorrow.

Come on England!

I think it should be quite a competitive tournament. I think we have a chance. We are being roundly written off in most quarters, but I think we could grind out a result in Cardiff that could see us sneak the trophy.

COME ON ENGLAND!!

I wouldn't be too upset if Wales got it - I learned 4 weeks ago that I am 1/8th Welsh. As I have spent the last 24 years unaware of my Welsh heritage I feel that I need to express my 1/8th Welshness somehow...

...maybe I might just have a leek and potato soup for lunch.

Wales have about 4 potential match winning players and a very handy fixture list. i.e. you want the contenders at home, and that's what Wales have. I can't really see beyond Wales. Ireland and France could contend if Wales do slip up though.

As an Englishman, I'm quite happy with that. We can let these minnow nations have their day, just so long as we're competitive in a WC year and the one before. Obviously we should expect to beat the truly shite outfits that are Italy and little old Scotland.

Anyone BUT Wales PLEEEEAASSEEEEE :rolleyes::nono:

Being English and living n Wales, when they win, is NOT a pleasure

Having lived in Cardiff throughout the early 80s I fully understand this sentiment.

I and my other English friends used to go to every game we could get tickets for (which, ironically, was all of them EXCEPT England games), in order to cheer on the opposition. I have often been Irish for a day, Scottish for a day... Hell, even (God forbid) French and Australian for a day...

The best thing was it was a time when the golden years had just ended for them and Wales were shit - I don't think I ever saw 'my team' lose. :clap2:

To be honest, a fair chunk of my post above was meant in jest, having lived here for 25 years, and indeed our daughter was born in Wales, we can't dislike it that much.

But I have to say, it does really piss me off when England play anyone else, at any sport, the Welsh will in the majority support the opposition, even when England played Argentina a few years back in the world cup, most up here wanted the Argies to win, i did lose it a bit over that, to say the least !!

When I moved there I had absolutely nothing against the Welsh, but yes, it was the anti-English antagonism that started before I'd even opened my mouth that led me to become an 'Anyone but Wales' man. And it was the same with all the other English people I knew there.

Having said that, I am married to a Welsh woman - although even she doesn't want to live there...!

The passage of time and the fact I only have to go there a couple of times a year to visit the mother-in-law has softened my opinion. Nowadays, to be honest, I can't get excited whether they win or lose.

I'm not quite sure how you work that one out. They play the French in Paris! Have Ireland at home, but I make that 50/50. England really aren't contenders (on form at least).

I worked it out quite easily really. You want the two shit outfits away because you expect to beat them wherever the game is played, and Wales are away to Italy and Scotland.

That leaves 3 other matches, Ireland and England at home and France away. I suppose they'd pick to play France at home rather than England but I still think overall it's a favourable fixture list with only one tricky away match.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were suggesting that Wales had all the good teams at home. They certainly have the easier of the two options in terms of fixtures, I agree.
