Since the end of the season......

We have had some enthusiastic talk about massive sums of money to be spent improving our squad, only for TB and GP to quash the rumours of massive cash and indicate only a modest sum will be available.

Towards the end fo the season, we had the pleasure of seeing our loan players playing well and assumed they would sign along with a few others to strenthen further.

Now, I know the season is not yet officially over (play offs etc) but rather than strengthen, what have we done so far with our sqad?

Forster - gone
Virgo - gone
Calderon - gone, not paid enough
Painter - no news but apperently wants too much too
Lua Lua - no news
Hendire - needs a massive wage cut if he stays
Barnes - Plymouth not selling
Aresmendi - no news
Crofts - gone
Kuipers - gone

Painter has signed pre-contract agreement. Gus is in South America SCOUTING, its only the end of may. He has cleared the deadwood and will put together HIS squad in good time. No point rushing it and blowing a load like Slade did on Dickinson. Can't believe people are panic stricken now. Every year its the same JUST CHILL THE f*** OUT.

Painter signed a pre contract agreement and will sign a contract on 1st possible date ie 1st July 2010.

You forgot Cox, easily forgotten, of course!

Yikes - I did forget Cox!

No stressing too much, but just pointing out that things might not be going as I or some others would have hoped at this stage.

Great news on Painter if so - I didn't know this.

Dead wood, some yes, but not so for Forster/Crofts and I would like to have seen some of our loan players making some commitment by this time

Well Gus has been away for 2 weeks so I may suggest that more may happen in the next few weeks perhaps.

A lot of players will be away having a family holiday. I know that is not a bar against signing them but makes it a lttle more difficult. I am convincved we will see some significant movement of players coming in very shortly.

Where does it state that Gus is in S America scouting, rather than just having a holiday? If it's from the Argus I'd give it no credence whatsoever as they probably picked it up off here.

I love the positivity on here these day but Gus hasn't signed the new deal and at the moment we are losing more players than we are employing, so being a little bit concerned is just fine imo. Not panic just mild concern

Today is May 22nd; let's wait and see what's happened in eight or nine weeks time: I trust Gus to get it right.

Does this mean he can't be approached, or, opt to move to anybody else?

In a nutshell is it watertight?

I think (that being the key here), it's watertight and so the deal is done.

Just need to wait for it to be made official on July 1st, but I don't think it can be hijacked.

Painter has signed his contract, which takes effect on 1st July when he can be registered a BHA player. His contract is, however, signed.

They specifically said he had been to both Boca Juniors and River Plate to watch them train.

We were always going to be letting players go first. No need even for mild concern in MAY.

He hasn't signed the new deal yet purely because he is physically not able to. When he is back he will sign the deal, sounds like it's pretty much set in stone from Bloom's comments.

Of those players, Forster, Kuipers and Virgo were released by the club as they were not wanted and we presumably believe we could get better players in. As mentioned elsewhere, Painter has signed. We were always going to have to wait a while to see if we could keep the loan players, Plymouth haven't even got a manager at the moment. In my view, Crofts and Calderon are the only losses from that list and neither of them are irreplaceable.
