Like many i guess i do some 'station hopping' during the day and to be honest i did not mind Chris Evans on drivetime  However since Simon Mayo has moved from Radio 5 to Radio 2 and have started to listern more often. Maybe it is me,however i find Mayo,s style well suited to this show.

I like him and Mark Kermode on fridays. In fact I bought Slade in Flame on the back of an interview they did with Tom Conti, who is the Simon Cowell of the film. Kermode couldn't praise it enough. I thought it was an appalling film but enjoyed trying to work out what they were on about. And it was glam.

I've been told by a normally reliable source that Simon Mayo is Worthing born and bred. Is that true? And is he related to Kerry??

I find Mayo really dreary. He tries to inject a bit of Evans-esque banter into the proceedings but I think he's better suited to Radio 5.

I'm at a total loss to understand why his partnership with Mark Kermode is considered to be such vital listening. Worst bit of the Culture Show by far, and just as tedious and self-regarding on radio.

Give the drivetime slot to Stuart Maconie.

Yep, Worthing High School, Worthing 6th Form, parents were involved at Broadwater church. Don't think there is a direct link with Kerry

Up here on the left.
Radio 2 has gone right downhill now in my humble opinion, I hardly ever listen to it now. I spend most of my time in London and swap between BBC London and Absolute Radio.

I am sorry but since he's done the DFS adverts I really can't take him seriously.

I agree - Mayo is awful and i don't think he''ll last out the year before they put somebody more lively into the slot. I have great respect for people heavily into their music but playing world music like Geoffrey Gurrumul Yun- upingu (yes he's blind I know but Radio 2 is not a charity) alongside Carly Simon and Elkie Brooks is not prime time mainstream entertainment.

Radio 4 needs to up it's game on the 6.30pm comedy slot or my drive home is set to stay dull dull dull.

I see nowt wrong with either Mr Evans or Mr Mayo, in fact hearing Chris Evans sing Elvis' "Love me Tender" to the tune of the Archers last week was on of the funniest things I have heard on the radio for a long time. And I like Machonie and Radcliffe as well (their books are worth a read also). I find commercial radio unremittingly shite and am a big fan or R2.

I must be getting old!

Having just wiki'd him, I was amazed to find out he is over 50 (b 1958), so would have been at Worthing Sixth form about 4 years before me. Apparently he worked on Southlands Hosp Radio. There you go, you learn something every day (addmitedly, something quite useless)
