I think Jackson is a fantastic signing for us at this stage of the season. Will be hungry to impress as well with his contract up in the summer.

This. A loanee with ability and motivation = a good signing

So we should ignore the strengths of the other 25-odd players in the squad, most of whom are adept at slow, patient, intelligent, composed passing football - and a fair few of whom have been competent at it at Championship level and higher, all to suit ONE player who enjoys old fashioned blood and thunder kick and rush, and is good at it at League One level?

It's bizarre that Gus signed him. Bizarre.

Obviously Gus had a plan of how to use him when he paid the money for him and I would suggest it was for him to complement our style rather than make him or the team change their play drastically just a little fine tuning.

You need to read the whole conversation before commenting on one small piece of it.

Or else you could find yourself talking about a completely different player.

I think that everything Gus has said about CMS has indicated that he is a little disappointed he hasn't scored more but does hold him solely responsible. 10 goals before Christmas isn't a shabby return and gears up for a 20 goals a season, which every club needs from their leading striker. It must also be remembered that Gus is said to have been chasing Ulloa for 18 months and obviously had him in his plans when he signed CMS and allowed Murray to move on without too much chasing.

Even though its not saying a great deal. He is probably Canada's best forward. Living in Canada I have watched him a few times in Internationals and he does have some speed. Comparisons to CMS are quite fair. As people have been saying I think it would be a quality signing this late into the season. Now we just have to hope that Gus uses him up front with Uolla and that we push for big wins.

What's the bet that we wake up to a news story with Gus explaining how there wasn't anybody who was in our price range or anybody he thought that could make a difference...

Cor it was lucky I gave some thought to a reply for a negative CMS comment, on the back of my post.
If only the lottery numbers could be so predictable.

I'm pretty sure CMS and now Jackson is the last thing any defence wants to see after an hour of Ulloa battering.
Fingers crossed it'll be like taking candy from a baby, wearing lead boots.

The problem IMHO comes from starting a game, where we don't play the 'big man up from', and more importantly we don't play the defence splitting ball through the middle, preferring to keep possession, as CMS found to his cost.

Oh and here's your montage, which certainly looks similar to Jackson's.:-

George Boyd made 90% of those goals, maybe we missed a trick there!

With us wanting Spanish Len and waiting for a year and a half this certainly explains why Murray wasn't in Gus's short to medium term plans.

T'is odd, as every time I've seen him play we've made Boyd look less than ordinary.
Certainly not worthy of the stripes.

Oh dear. Is this a case of 'Chinese whisper' recollection? Gus and the club gave Murray more than enough respect and effort - but the SHITE up the road were financially cavalier and hellbent on outbidding us. Murray was offered a contract and more money as per Gus's promise as i understood

You do know that Gus doesn't hold the wallet, right?

Pretty much a finisher which is exactly what we need. Lets hope it's confirmed soon.

Anyone else notice when Norwich scored the winner against Derby that one of the fans went to jump on the pitch but landed on the advertising board :lolol:

He is out of contract in the summer according to the Argus so the deal could be similar to the loan-then-buy situation Palace have with us for Dobbie; maybe that's why it's taking so long to sort. Loans normally seem to be sorted a lot quicker than this. I am enjoying Norwich becoming our feeder club; the tables have turned. First Crofts and now Jackson; I wonder who we're going to take next!

Hopefully we can get Elliot back

Gus obviously put a valuation on Murray and wasn't prepared to enter an auction having signed CMS and Hoskins and also had Ulloa in his sights. It is rather telling that CMS and Hoskins are similar type players and Simeon Jackson is also as, opposed to Ulloa who offers something completely different, so we have a plan A and B in place with these players.
