Could Gus talk Jermaine Jenas of Spurs into dropping down a division and could we afford him as I am sure he could provide the attacking force we need from midfield.

He went on a season loan to Villa and didn't play until Oct/Nov due to niggling injuries made 3 appearances and then tripped over on the Villa pitch and was returned to Spurs due to an Achilles injury. He has played 155 games for Spurs since 2005 and 3 for Villa last season so a long way off of a fit England player. Is now without a squad number at Spurs so is not in their plans.

155 games in 6 years not great for a player in his prime

His injuries have only been over the last few years and if I'm right relate to the original injury. Basically if he's not fit, no one will want him. If he is, then he is premiership class (and England class - he was playing for them at the time he got injured originally I believe) and will get interest from any team below Newcastle in my view. Put it this way, he's better than Jordan Henderson and if fit would have been in this england squad.

As for your figure of 155 games in six years. That's pretty decent. He wasn't always first choice to begin with or towards the end.

I accept that he is a good player but he needs to get fit and where better than with us as most Prem clubs will perhaps not be so patient as us and take a chance and pay big wages.

Just because we got Vicente fit for 8 games our fans are now linking us with every crocked player in the premiership!!

I just think he won't have a problem finding a Prem club that will take a chance. Achilles injuries can take a while to mend. His required surgery and I think he was due back about now if I remember rightly. A decent pre-season at Spurs (who may need him themselves in the short term if Modric goes) and he'll be snapped up by someone.

We have not been linked with Jenas just an idea from me of a player who would suit our style of play and may be available , but I dont know how bad his injury is. It is sufficient for Spurs to not give him a squad number but again I dont know how long he is under contract to them.

On that about Modric if he goes to Man U I think HR will insist on Carrick returning in part exchange as a ready made replacement and possibly consider Joe Cole going back to London.

Vicente's main problems were not physical injuries either, most of it was his state of mind I think

Spurs laoned him to Villa last season, that's why he didn't have a squad number.

Hard to see it happening realistically. The initial scenario - have him on loan for a season; get him fit and in the shop window; resurrect his career etc is fantastic.
Then you think - if he is fit there are at least ten premier league clubs who would be delighted to offer the same opportunity.
So it comes back to where exactly he is in his recovery? To have a chance of getting him he would have to be currently not ready to play and then it's a massive gamble whether he would actually be able to make an impact and what effect a high paid sicknote could have on the squad ? Same attitude and skill as Vicente and maybe you have a winner. Big-I-Am and he could drag others down..................................

Love the idea and wouldn't entirely rule it out but on a probability of 1 to 10 it's pretty low IMO.

he will be the new kieran dyer when teams stop gambling on him and dyer finally calls it a day and retires laughing his socks off with millions in his back pocket.

although his career hasnt quite gone to plan, its still turned out pretty good financially for him.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I had a silly thought the other day about a disinterested and mostly diffident mule. This ass refused to do any of the handywork or carrying for creatures larger than a vole, and could be found on a mostly unused beach some 18 miles from Blackpool with a sign at its unachy hooves stating itself to be completely unavailable for rides by anything human-sized or hedgehog-sized or falcon-sized, claiming they were really the likely creatures looking for beachside fun. This mule was called Peter and had gone through some tough times in a Berkshire farm where the richest of men had the cheapest of minds toward animalkind. Peter would huff and snort through the night snared in the nightmares of his time on the outskirts of abuse. I don't think it's a true story though. If it is, and anyone happens to know of the whereabouts of Peter or the evil farmer, then let me know. I can help. Cheers.
