I just got back from Sainsbury's and I thought I'd make the mother of all sandwiches to keep me going til evening meal time. I had it all there to assemble thusly:
Slice of Bread (regular, medium sliced. Don't be a poof, eat white bread)
Butter
Mustard
Diced onion
Ham
Ghurkins
Cheese
Cucumber
Lettuce
Mayonnaise
Salt/pepper
1 x jacobs cracker
Slice of bread, repeat first storey
Bread on top.
All lined up on my kitchen counter, like little culinary soldiers ready to march into my tummy. I got the bread from it packet, after all bread makes this all possible and it felt like cardboard, all pale and stiff round the edges and hard in the centre. I checked the best before date and it was 31st January 2010 TODAY!!! Now, i should have checked at the shop, those fuckers have a habit of putting the shitty old stock at the front but I just assume that the bread is always gonna be okay for at least 2 or 3 days after purchase but I didn't count on it BEING OUT OF DATE THE f***ing DAY I BUY IT...
Can they do this? I'm not going back there but shagging f***, that's not on. I will mention it to one of their equal opportunities members of staff next time I am in there. Strangebury's I say, I may have to switch to Spazda (white bread, brown babies).
The sandwich was still consumed but it was not a triumph, really took the shine off my Sunday, post walk treat.
