Can't see that. When I walked past about an hour ago they had some nice venetian blinds up and some brand new light fittings laying around. Also there was a games machine van outside.

The Tap is re-opening, appropriately, on Thursday 1st April. There has been no promotion and the whole thing has been veiled in secrecy although it is actually being taken over by a guy called Steve who used to drink in the Hollingbury pub.

on a Preston Village tip...my lil 2-bed house in Middle Road, Preston Village is up for sale with Fox & Sons. Stumbling distance from 'The Bewrey'. Ideal for Withdean...less so for Falmer...Under the stamp suty threshold too so only 1%!

Possibly. A lot of the old Tap regulars are now at the Station and the Crown, and are not interested in going back in if they are forced to listen to constant loud music and be surrounded by teenagers.

With the right balance of investing in the local community and enterprising attitude I think both pubs could pull through the recession.

I don't think the agreement was signed until Monday and since then there's been a lot of hard work going on to fix the place up to get it open by today, so not much time for promotional stuff, etc. Luckily Steve knows a fair amount of people in Brighton and word has got round quite quickly, so expect the place to be a little busy today!

But yes The Brewery Tap is indeed under new stewardship, at least for the next 6 months anyway, and potentially longer. Steve, who is a Brighton fan, is giving the place a good clean-down and professional refurb (there was a heck of a lot of internal stuff wrong with it), so it should look a lot more presentable when it does open for the first time under the new tenants today!

No, not on with Mishon. It's one of the railway cottages next to the old police station. Deceptively big inside and an OK 'yard-en' but no good for family of four as we are now. I know what you mean about the tiddlers up the road. Quaint but small.

Nice to see the Tap open and absolutely heaving last night. So much so that I gave it a miss after the game. Fair play to the landlord's mates, who the newbies all seemed to be, for going along to lend their support. Nice one. The decor is very much a work in progress, but well done to the new landlord for getting it habitable so quickly. And cheers for the free bar food before the game. Top work!

Will pop in for just the one before Kick-Ass today also methinks. Be rude not to.

Even the beer was good. And as for the huge spread of food...
