As I said at the time, if we are so reliant on wingers we needed to bring one in in January with (at that time) no March, Mitoma, Adingra or Enciso. As soon as we didn’t that it sent a message that we weren’t serious about the second half of the season.

But hey, we made a shitload of money after selling our midfield and didn’t bother replacing it.
Yup, this. Naive in the extreme. Club took its eye off the ball and has been punished accordingly

The club didn’t it’s eye off the ball per se , but it lost and never replace Ashworth & Winstanley.

David Weir was our ‘loans manager propelled to DoF out of convenience

All these people were only ever as good as their access to the output from TB's algorithm
Well the algorithm has been largely broken the last 3 windows - apart from an ‘obvious’ signing of Pedro.

Winstanley hasn’t exactly set the world alight at Chelsea with billions to spend and DA changes his colours and commitment to the cause pretty regularly. There is more to it than that.

We have 2 groups of fans.

Group A - Those that have seen this coming from months ago.
&
Group 2 - Those that are finally waking up to the reality of the situation.
Not to forget Team #justabaddayattheoffice who have been doing a huge amount of heavy lifting since late summer.

The arse end of Hangleton
Bloom was to tight in January we were about the only club who could spend.
I'm going to defend TB .... slightly. He was too tight in the last Summer window - he knew we were in Europe and should have used that knowledge to get some depth in. January on the other hand, players are charged at a premium - and every club would have added a percentage knowing we were one of the few clubs able to spend. What really matters now is buying numerous players this next window and getting rid of our deadwood - RDZ being one.

The injuries are very relevant to us putting out a side that would struggle in the Championship.

Not relevant to us lacking fight, leadership and desire though. Unacceptable downing of tools.

The point is that we should be able to put out a side that is competitive in the Premier League, even with the injuries.
We have enough money to and have been convincing ourselves for 3 seasons that we have unbeliveable depth with our talented U21s and great recruitment.

So do we have wonder kids - or lower end Championship quality kids ?

The squads recently haven’t been *that* bad on paper

your post is correct but you have to ask why the players we have available end up compromising a side that would struggle in the championship. as others have said, we’ve got more than enough money and i do not accept there aren’t players out there in the market.

what is the point of having players that when we need them to step in, are so far from good enough? are we just keeping them around in case we get relegated one day?

Of course injuries have had an effect on our season - plain stupid to claim otherwise. The point is, they are not the only factor involved in the downfall.
Exactly. This goes both ways. People are being shouted down for mentioning the injuries by people who are not willing to mention the injuries. As you say they're not the only reason for our bad for but they are part of it...

PB was rubbing his hands and still is. Will be even worse if he offloads Mitoma to the highest bidder

Have there been any actual credible rumours about selling Mitoma? Or is it just fear mongering?

Seems like it would be moronic timing to sell him now given the state of the team and the fact he's barely played this year. His value is at its lowest.

It would be nice if we had some strikers who could score some goals. Oh, and some actual wingers. Oh, and a proper physical ball-winning midfielder.
The lack of a player/players that can win the ball back and transition defence to attack is a huge issue currently. In so many games this season wherever the opposition get the ball they are able to almost always create a chance/score after a riding out a few powerpuff challenges. Baleba tries but is still so raw..same for Barco..but at least he passes forward..he was fecked halfway through second half and should have been subbed. Igor was appalling. A real shame the season is ending this way..something(s) seems not right sadly.

Lets get real...
There is no succession planning. It's a media myth.
No planning for losing our central midfielders.
No planning for losing all our recruitment staff.
We've had no real medical team since October.
No planning for injuries.
No planning for RDZ ducking out half way through the season.
The worst set piece coach in England and no alternative.
Love Bloom and Barber but give the succession shit up.

I keep on saying , we lost 3 central midfielders from last season including Mwepu
and replaced with a 37 year old ,
a free transfer lightweight, and a you player who had Not played 25 first team matches
this is why we are struggling, we have no midfield
