[Help] Shower help needed

I have recently moved into a new home and have a shower that is leaking slightly through the control dials so I want to take it apart to have a look.

I have taken one of the handles and the grub screw underneath it off but the ring still won't budge. I suspect it is being glued together by limescale and just needs a bit of force but am reluctant to try to try this without knowing what I am doing.

The shower is an Alterna which I believe is a Triton brand and it lloks like this:

Leave well alone if you don't know what you are doing.

What are you hoping to achieve by taking it apart?
If the shower is working but only dripping and you have no knowledge of repairing a shower I would leave well alone and either contact Triton for advice, they offer a repair service ( not sure about now because of CV 19 )
Or contact a plumber that is experienced in repairing built in shower mixers.

Have you at least looked up common faults and the manual ? This might help......as said though, may be better to get someone in than **** about with it.

i have a low level white cistern that’s cracked and a dripping connection on another that need fixing

Builders, who’ve been great all other work, couldn’t solve similar issues with our Mira shower.

So now we use Mira’s own engineer, who always solves any issues, it’s a specialist area they know inside out.

I’ve been called to jobs where a person with zero knowledge and armed with google has spent hours making things worse. If I have an issue with my vehicle I go to my mechanic because I haven’t a clue what I’m doing.

Yes. I have looked at that manual, I have taken off part 5 but can't move 4,6 , 7, 8.

I am hoping to change th cartridge. But I can't get to the cartridge becuse I am not sure how to take of the external parts.

If you have removed the handles and grub screws the controls must be stuck, I know you have already mentioned that in your opening post.
I think you will have to spray WD40 on to and around the parts you are trying to remove, then try to prise the control forward, you need to start with a small flat head screwdriver and then a bigger screwdriver.

I can't think of any other way to remove the controls.

Do as others have suggested, call someone in. I know it's annoying, and I know you could probably do the job, but if you mess around with it a simple job might end up being a massive job.

Wise man, it’s a strange mentality though particularly amongst men begrudgingly paying a tradesman as a last resort. I’ve seen silver foil wrapped around fuses rather than pay a professional putting themselves and their family at risk for the sake of a few quid.
