[Albion] Should there be a transfer window for managers?

I saw someone post this question on another thread.

Assuming Potter goes, why should our season be turned upside down just because Chelsea sacked their manager?

There should be a rule that if a club wants to sack someone mid-season they can only appoint a new manager who is currently not under contract with another club.

The whole idea of introducing transfer windows is that it prevented clubs facing disruption throughout the course of the season. What could be more disruptive than losing your manager?

Potentially our best-season ever screwed because of those *****

I think there should be some penalty (points deduction?) for taking a manager from a club in the same division during the season, it affects the competition. Chelsea could have hobbled the team currently keeping them out of a Champions League place, it might sound daft because it is Brighton and it is early in the season, but spiking us certainly makes their progression easier.

No. If you have one dodgy player, you have a squad of others to use.

If you have one dodgy manager/head coach, you have nowhere else to turn.

That's a self-defeating argument though. Why should those conditions be ignored for stealing another club's manager? The conditions are not existent purely at the club with the dodgy manager, but also in a club like ours with a great manager.

Absolutely Not.

If your club was spinning towards Relegation then you couldn't change Management to try and avert it.

And for Managers themselves especially those out of work you would be restricting them to set periods when jobs / work for them would become available.

Why can’t managers be like players.
If they are free agents they can sign outside the window, if they are at a club they can only join another in the window.
Seems sensible!

This, I remember when early into the season, WHam took Readings, they took our's, I forget who's we took but it was dominoes. The WHam shambles ruined more than three other clubs preparations, daft!

Yes, yes there should. Manangement status is now up there with players and their entourage is far greater, arguably the most disruptive thing that can happen to a club.

At the very least if a manager quits for a seemingly better club they should be put on gardening leave until the season ends.

That's tough though, isn't it? You select your manager and you have to keep him for half a season at least. It would prevent trigger-happy chairmen sacking them because they lose a couple of games and give them the chance to turn things around. So I think managers would probably welcome it. Also, if they really wanted to get rid ,clubs could always appoint a manager not currently contracted to another club or make an internal appointment.

Yes, a couple of weeks at the end of the season. Taking a coach and all the senior staff once the season has started should not be allowed to happen. We have had the foundations of our team ripped away just because a self entitled filthy rich club and their fans don't like getting a few bad results. Maybe their should be a market value as well. 16 m for Potter what a piss take

.
. So it's not ok for a club to be forced to find a solution from inside their own ranks but perfectly reasonable for them to put another club into a tail spin by ripping their coaching department from them?

Classic case of ‘the rules are fine until they work against us.’ I’m sure we must have taken managers during the season before.

Are transfer windows for players also a "absolutely not" for you?

Well if we have then that was wrong. Often it takes being on the sharp end of unjust behaviour to recognise it as such. For sure what this does mean is we are likely to force the same fate onto another club and so the cycle continues, this of course does nothing to make it ok.

Managers are under contract and if they are doing poorly clubs get rid but will still have to meet the terms of the outstanding contract so I'm not sure the managers themselves will really worry. Stay at a club where you're doing badly and end up with a relegation on your CV!

And presumably it will now be happening all over again because we’ll almost certainly have to do the same thing to another club. It is grossly unfair on all clubs effected, so much so, that there should be some sort of rule change to stop teams like Chelsea doing this type of thing ever again. If the managers could only swap in the transfer windows then maybe Chelsea would have done this in the summer, if not then wait to January. They have potentially ruined 3-4 clubs season.
