I'd expect (when Bennett does go) for it to be reported in the Argus as undisclosed anyway, rumoured to be up to £1.5m (including all the performance/success related clauses)..

Reject his request... remind him he's signed a long-term contract not long ago...

Given he's just signed a contract, I say no. At the end of the season though if hes still wants to go, then let him.

Well, we'll find out tomorrow if he's going. If he's not in the squad then it looks like he's off.

I am well and truly peed off with Bennett, we have just rewarded him with a new 4 year contract this season and he has been banging on all season how much loves it down here, then gets one offer from Norwich and just asks to go.
I feel like showing my annoyance with him at Leyton Orient game, no loyalty and i thought he seemed a different type player, this kind of thing he has done could make us have a dip in form as players confidence in the project may slip and players like Murray maybe see what Bennett doing and try same thing.
What amazes me is People used to moan at Murray but he is in last year of contract and is still working his arse off, if anyone you would expect to underperforming or sulking it be murray as couldnt settle in area before, but bennett who has sooo many times come out and said how we gave him chance and loves the club.
I hope we either let him rot in the reserves for 2 years or just see him disappear from football eg norwich if get him, as this kind of behaviour shouldnt be accepted.
Also why ask for this transfer a day before the deadline gives us no chance to get a replacement in, he is sticking two fingers up at our club and i dont want a player with his attitude around, shame as i really liked bennett, but no one bigger than club, and his negative behaviour and attitute could bring our challenge for title and promotion down.
Bennett needs showing by us fans that cant treat our club like this, he was no one before we took chance on him, also the timing is bit that hurts most, does he want us to fail ?

Can't be arsed to read all through the posts but if we accept his request we just state he can go as long as we clear £5m taking into account any sell on clause with Wolves. We should also ensure it is a large upfront deposit especially if it is Norwich as they are beset with financial problems at present. £2m isn't enough to get a replacement. We should also seek to persuade him to stay should we get promoted. At the end of the day if he is set on going we can't stop him without affecting morale but it seems his head has been turned by a bit of money.

If Norwich are offering 6K a week more, can't we just bung Elliot 150K to compensate for the rest of the season, and then tell him he can go in the summer?? Would be a lot cheaper than getting a replacement.

In a brown envelope a la Chesterfield?

As I said the other day , if he wants to go let him go , I know there will be a few on here crying about it but as I said , Bennett is replaceable , it's very good money for a average player IMO , I'd be more upset if Murray left the club to be honest.

He may be replaceable, but we won't have time to replace him. I think this is the key issue here.

Sorry but that is mainly rubbish.

He does not really owe us anything. He has played really well for us and we offered him a contract probably partly to protect ourselves against this approach. He has played well and we have appreciated it, but now a club who can pay him more money than we can at the moment have made an offer for him.

I don't know what job you do , but if a rival employer to your own made you an offer that would double or treble your wages, would you be loyal because you love your current employer so much. Probably not, and why should Bennett. It will be sad to see him leave (if he does) and if he stays I will support him in exactly the same way as I support anyone else that plays for us.

Why so much panic , do you lot honestly think he is the difference for the team being promoted or not ?

Basically yes. Has played a major part in about 50% of our goals this season. If he ain't that good why are a team looking go into the premiership sniffing around? As for being replaced easily can you suggest a single player who would be willing to come here who can replace him?

I think Elliott Bennett is the type of player who always gives 100% even if he playing on the beach with his mates in the summer. I also think all players have their price and if Gus and Mr Bloom think the offer from Norwich is a good one for us unfortunately we should sell, if it's not good enough then we don't.

No, he should continue for us until the end of the season and then he can decide if he still wants to leave....
