Should St Georges Day be a holiday?

I have to agree that it is rather a wrong time of year, but at the same time I think every day should be a holiday so f*** it. Yes

This post was a duplicate of the above post so I have craftily edited it so that I don't look quite so stupid.

So I should probably add something.

Er, what about another holiday in late june/ early July?

Believe it or not St Patrick was not Irish at all.

He was born somewhere along the west coast of Britain in the little settlement or village of Bannavem of Taburnia (vico banavem taburniae in his Confession), which has never been identified with certainty. Sites suggested include Dumbarton and Somerset, or the coastline of Wales or northern France; another possibility put forward for his birthplace is the settlement of Bannaventa in Northamptonshire, for raiders captured him with "many thousands of people" according to Patrick's autobiographical Confession, and sold them as slaves in Ireland.

From Wilkpedia (he could be Scottish, English, Welsh, or French).

I prefer Lord Nelson to St George as he actually achieved something and has good pubs named after him :drink: ;)

Suddenly St George does not seem so wholesome?

All the Jingoists on this board who cover themselves in the flag of the patron saint of SYPHILIS seem to have gone quiet.?

READ past threads.
argueing about st georges day or trafalgar day being a public holiday, and this led on to how many different pubs were named after said candidates.
