Has the time come for the government to ban Fireworks?

I have heard that they are going to make it illegal to let them off after 11.00pm but is that going far enough?

surely they are dangerous and being sold in newsagents they can easyly fall into the wrong hands.

too many people get injured each year.

How dangerous are sparklers!!! parents give their child a stick of fire and tell them to wave it around!!!! are they Mad?""""!!!!

have organised displays only.

what are all your thoughts?

Thinking about it, selling balistics to people is fairly bloody dangerous, especially if like me you think that a sizeble proportion of the people in this country are complete idiots.

A prime example, Sunday night I was in my mate's car and we drove around the corner to see sparks coming off the roof of the car on the other side of the road. Then 'Bang' from the sparks came a rocket (attached to this car) which hit the underside of my mates car and exploded. Maybe it's just me, but that could have ended in something quite serious. Organised displays for me I'm afraid.

A friend of mine blew up a phonebox with some French bangers in 1985 (the door came off) - he was a f***ing loon.

Yes, in the hands of irresponisble people they are dangerous weapons (but it was funny to watch)

I am sure, as fireworks are enjoyable, the government will either ban them or tax them.

Why is the solution always to ban things just because some fecking idoits misuse it.

Why not ban cars because some people drink and drive ?

Why not ban kitchen knives because some people have used them in stabbings ?

Why not ban matches and lighters because arsonists use them ?

Fireworks should not be banned - NO BLOODY WAY !!!!!! Just punish the idiots that misuse them and the shops that sell them to under age kids !

I'm getting old too - and I love 'em.

We are planning to shoot £150 worth of bangs and flashes into the night sky on Saturday - excellent :)

bit nanny state though isn't it?

I mean, there are lots of things on sale that in the hands of the wrong people can be dangerous

I must admit the sheer amount of fireworks to be heard these days is somewhat annoying. We have had fireworks going off around our area for the past 3 weeks and it is getting a bit tiresome. Add to that a few numptys that just wanna set them off under peoples cars and in phone boxes, and youve got accidents galore wating to happen.
I dont think they should be banned but a time limit imposed of just the 3 days around the 5th november.
Plus it frightens all the animals...ahhhhh.

I like the Mexican atitude, no holes bared party. OK a couple of people end up in hospital each year but no one cares to much.

I was at a fiesta and they were aiming some pretty highpowered stuff at each other. I think the idea was if anyone does get killed it will be another party.

Thats Latin America for you!!!!

There should be a contest - who can blow the phone box door the furthest. Obviously the more powerful the fireworks the better!
