Should Brexit negotiations should be conducted by a multi-party committee?

Lets face no one has won this election and there is no mandate for a single party to decide the country's future about Brexit. Its the biggest deal of our generation

Surely a multi-party negotiating committee would have the interests of the British public, not their one party's political interests, at heart and secure the best deal for the good of the whole country.

Not sure it would work. I feel David Davis has come over well in his role so far but there is a long long way to go.

Think he's rather arrogant to be honest. The best person Labour have is Kier Starmer, he could add something to the process somewhere

...and to think there are still some clowns out there holding on to some forlorn hope that it MIGHT not happen still.

Interesting idea. Negotiations on the red lines/agenda for the negotiations and make up of the committee should begin sometime soon. Then after much horse-trading and debate, it's final recommendations put to both houses of parliament for debate and a vote. Unlikely to pass first time so table amendments and repeat the process. Hopefully come to a settled position by May 2019 ready to negotiate.

If something that normally takes 9 years has to be condensed into just 21 months then a multi-party committee is the last thing we require.

Just send in Sir Alan Sugar, Claude Littner and Nick Hewer - job done!

That iffy looking bloke on Posh Pawn always seems to strike a good deal.

A yes from me. Last battle we had with Europe in WW2 we went with team Conservative, Labour and Liberal. Churchill and Atlee et al. Think they did okay.

The referendum wasn't fought on party lines, there were people from across the spectrum on both sides. I would definitely support a cross party negotiating team with one proviso - they must have supported Brexit in the referendum. That would rule out Starmer and most of Labour's front bench.

I'm not sure if you're making fun with this post, or you have genuinely overlooked that the 2 year period expires 29 March 2019.
