I stumbled across Riz Ahmed's short a few months ago
)
last year found this
and tonight fell into a Paddy Considine rabbit hole, and have come back clutching this beauty
his first short film which eventually morphed into Tyrannosaur. All fantastic.
For me, like documentaries on obscure subjects you don't really have an interest in, good short films always catch me by surprise with their 15 minute story-telling tightness, and unless you're paying specific attention, there must be so many more 'early works of...'/award-winning shorts passing us all by. Specifically on Youtube (as some, like the brilliant Home with Jack O'Connell get packed away behind an Amazon subscription which is pretty grubby imo). I've done a quick YT search and yes, it does come up with quite a lengthy list, but recommendations are always the place to start - so are there any you're itching to tell people/me about?
