Found out this morning that one of my best mate's brother is missing, he was apparently in the car with Matt Jones. Thoughts are with his family and all of those who have been touched by this tragedy.

I am currently on holiday in the US (crunchie man) and woke saturday at 9am here logged on for prematch information and couldn't believe the news. Like many, had I been there for the match, I would have been on that stretch of road around that time.
There have been snippets of news on ABC but I keep checking here for news as it is not only up to date but on the whole put out in a more personal way. Like a family sharing.
My thoughts are with everybody back home.

People always go on about counting your blessings, but my wife and I were sat on the beach watching the Red Arrows when one of the jets clipped the mast of a yacht between the piers and we heard this awful thump and watched as the jet flew skywards, stall and then fall back into the sea, about 800 meters straight ahead of us. If that had veered the other way and landed on the beach, we would not be here now. The red Arrows changed their modus operandi after that and now only fly out to sea over Brighton. ( this must have been 35 years ago now)
We were sat in our back garden on Saturday having lunch and saw the Hunter performing its banked turns and Karen heard a loud whump type sound and asked me what I thought it was...having been to a few airshows, I assumed it was the afterburner being switched off to get the turn in. Karen said about 10 minutes later that uit had all gone quiet and I assumed it was that it was lunch time and they were having a rest period. only found out about this when I drove on to the A27 to go to falmer and there were loads of ambulances and fire engines hammering along westward and people being diverted off at Hangleton. then i heard it on the news.

I was down the marina that day and saw the yacht come through the lock with a bent mast. I asked the bloke what had happened and he told me "a bloody plane hit it". His eyes were like saucers and he was shaking like a leaf.

we heard the crash, which in hindsight turned out to be the ejector seat firing....and we caught sight of the pilot hurtling upwards and disappearing behind the Palace Pier. We were convinced he would be catapulted into the pier, but I seem to recall he escaped with minor injuries.
the Red Arrows used to fly so low , it almost looked like they were weaving in and out of teh flats and the sussex county hospital

Civil Aviation Authority announces series of immediate restrictions and changes to UK civil air displays
Aviation regulator the CAA has announced that flying displays over land by vintage jet aircraft will be significantly restricted until former notice, and that no further flights are to be made by Hawker Hunter aircraft for a temporary period of time. In a statement, the CAA said:
The thoughts of everyone at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) remain with all of those affected by the tragic accident at the Shoreham Air Show on Saturday 22 August.
Following the accident we immediately began an urgent review and have, today, announced a series of immediate restrictions and changes to UK civil air displays.
• As a precaution, on Saturday 22 August we took steps to ensure no further flights were made by Hawker Hunter aircraft - this temporary restriction remains in place.
• Flying displays over land by vintage jet aircraft will be significantly restricted until further notice. They will be limited to flypasts, which means ‘high energy’ aerobatics will not be permitted.
• The CAA will conduct additional risk assessments on all forthcoming civil air displays to establish if additional measures should be introduced.
• We commenced a full review of civil air display safety yesterday and held an initial meeting this morning."

Sorry to hear that Darren. If it whom I think is being reported, when I first saw the photo I thought it was someone I know. Then read the report and breathed a sigh of relief. Now feel a little guilty as it turns out someone I know, knows them.
Sorry for not having control of my own dreams, I guess that I had those reactions from (probably foolishly) watching the footage several times. Please do not criticise people on this thread, really is not the time or place.

Genuinely happy and relieved to hear Boroseagull's good news. There is not anything to add that has not already been said, just feel so sad for anyone effected by this horrendous accident. Reading about those three young men brings tears to my eyes. I don't know them, but know that everyone who did will be devastated as will anyone who has had someone affected by this. My heart goes out to them all.
West Sussex coroner Penny Schofield warned that work to identify the victims would be a "slow and painstaking operation" as she appealed for the public's "patience and understanding".
She said it may take "several weeks" before all investigations are completed, adding that in the meantime family liaison officers have been assigned to bereaved relatives. Ms Schofield said:
"Specialist recovery teams are still at the scene searching for the remains of those who died but it is a very slow and painstaking process.
"We ask for everyone's patience and understanding over the next few days as the recovery teams carry out their work.
"The fire was so intense and the scale of the damage so vast, it means that we must very carefully remove the remains in a way that will lead to a formal identification.
"It is my intention to shortly meet with the families, together with the senior identification manager, to explain the processes in more detail.
"Once the formal identification process is complete I will open the inquests, in public, and the deceased will be released to their families for funerals to take place.
"I would like to thank the police, emergency services and local authority staff for their courage, dedication and the total professionalism in the way they have and are still dealing with this horrific event."

It's slipped under the radar but the U21s should have been playing at the Training ground this afternoon, but as it's being used as a command centre for the investigation, it was obviously postponed.
So a minute's silence tonight, normal on Saturday then I guess the club will have another v Hull.
So sad to have to mark senseless loss of life at 2 of our 3 home games this season.
