Shops gone that you miss

Theres still a great Fopp in Cambridge. Great in that you go in there for one thing maybe, but come out with 8 things you didnt know you wanted, but not what you went in for because the other stuff is better!

Theres one in London thats still good too.

There used to be one in Horsham that was the dogs - spent hundreds in there...so many good albums and so cheap! The last time I went into one was in Camden nearly 10 years ago. Miss that place (Fopp!, not Camden).

Gunny's from Worthing but then opened a shop in East Street, just up from the Wimpy Bar (I think ) great clothes, quite exspensive but good gear.

Alpine Sports - there's a blast from the past! I went in there 37 years ago and bought my best skateboard. It had a fibreglass Pacer deck with California Slalom Trucks and orange 70mm Kryptonics. I loved that board! I seem to recall there was a skatepark down near the seafront in Brighton under some arches back in the day too?

I remember Alpine. It was first on Queens Rd then in the Komedia building. Bought my BMX stuff there and Surrey Skates.

Gregory's fish and chip shop in Litteampton, best I ever had until I went to Boston, especially the crinkly bits in the bottom of the bag. The owner was a tall distinguished guy with grey hair who looked as though he should have been in the Guards. Also Collectors Corner near the arcade and The Corner Cupboard at Lyminster where I brought loads of stuff and always made money!

Whatever the computer shop downstairs in the old Churchill Square was called. Used to try and pick up games for my BBC Master Micro system in there. #Old

Mrs Mayfair in Ferring plus the Pedlars Tray. Mrs Mayfair was happy to sell you a 12 month old easter egg which wasn't the right colour opening it a year later but who cared. The reassuring Seniors Senior Service over the entrance showed the things for the future.
I'm not sure what Pedro Trays (as nicknamed in the late '70's) but it encouraged my girlfriend's Dad at the time to open an antique shop after he retired from the soft porn industry.
Ferring can tell one or two stories................................and I know a few (from the 70's)

my memory is not what it was but that name certainly rings and you are probably right
I bought all my modern jazz records at the Co-Op just along the road (my mum gave them all away, some of them were very rare)

Any oldies remember Captain Submarine in whatever that street is called directly opposite Brighton town Hall? Sort of an infinitely-better forerunner of Subway with foot-longs worth double-parking for.

Yep I remember going here before I discovered Doner Kebabs after a night out.

I used to love the Jubilee shopping mall as a kid, there was a computer game's shop upstairs and a place called Jabba's Hut downstairs which sold really geeky stuff. There was also an army surplus place which sold decommissioned guns down there.

I miss Cobra sports as well, I used to lust after the air max's and Reebok pumps they sold.

There was also a second hand bookshop at the top of St James' Street on the left as you go up. I remember it used to appear as if a bomb had gone off inside but the owner knew where everything was and exactly what stock he had, crazy!
