Would love to see us have a go more often from 20-25 yards - seems a rarity this season, as only Dale, Davy and Solly ever seem to have a go and those rarely. Apart from Pascal v West Brom, have we scored any others from outside the box?

West ham?

Thought Jose was just inside the area but I may be wrong.
Would love to see us having a ping more often when a gap opens up. Dale was close v Palace but needs to have a go more often. Suttner's got a sweet left foot too. You don't shoot, you don't score. Might improve our goals for tally.

Given the shots fired in on Tuesday night, I can understand why they don’t do it more.

Dale hit a rasper second half, just a chorus of 'no Dale' was rising it skimmed the post. Unlike the first half effort...

That's because generally, our players are atrocious at shooting from outside the area. Solly is the the only player I have confidence in, in terms of long range shooting.

Bruno rarely hits a poor one, but then he rarely shoots now which is a shame..

Maybe I'm just thinking nostalgically of the days when we had a few screamers going in from Chippy Carpenter and Matt Sparrow :lolol:
And few could rival the shooting boots of Jimmy Case when he caught one.
Even JFC managed a few 25 yarders for us.
Who have been our best distance marksman of the last 20 years?

Our central midfielders are rarely up that far to have a go, leaving our inverted wingers as the only ones who could potentially have a crack if they cut inside.

So our best two long range strikers of the ball, Stephens on his right is not far enough up the pitch, and Solly on his left is on the bench.

I'd add Baldock, scored a few beauties last season. Stephens hasn't scored for AGES

If we're talking last season and long range goals only, Sam had one home to QPR and one away to Barnsley from memory.

Stephens likewise had two, the only goal of the game away to Wigan and away to Blackburn.

Solly had the one v Brentford away.

Baldock better on ratio per minute played then ! Miserable tally generally though, must be crap compared to many teams..................Murray had one vs Villa I think ? Any more ?

Murray's goal home to Wigan maybe? I should really remember that game!

Hemed home to Cardiff, important one too.

Seem to remember Sidwell also scoring from quite far away at Bristol City.

Can't think of any more.

Maybe it's because the closing down of defenders is quicker? My feeling is that we have had a lot of shots blocked from outside the box as well as inside.

Ah yes Sidwell

Hemed was miles inside the box vs Cardiff.

Was it? I thought he had smashed it from just outside the box.

The player who will probably have the most opportunities to have a go from range this season is Gross, and he seems to be much more about placement than lashing it.

Stephens and Propper just rarely get into positions to do so, and if they are, they are encouraged to play it out wide and make a run into the box.
