There are defenders in the way, as the opposition strategy against us has evolved into overloading the box, as it is proven to be effective against us. As a result, it is not as easy to shoot on sight as you are making it sound.
there were several opportunities tonight, one in particular for o’riley which comes to mind, where a shot inexplicably wasn’t taken. so the OP raises a valid point imo.

What has happened?

Why won't our players shoot at will like we used to?

So many incredible positions and we are reluctant to put our foot through it

Please just shoot!!
People must be absolutely blind if they think we didn't have A LOT MORE THAN ENOUGH of hopeless long distance shots.

Bollocks. We were taking too many touches and making too many passes, it’s as simple as that. Players have lost all confidence, they are hesitant to shoot when given the chance.

Apparently we should have had 50 shots instead of the 24 we managed tonight.

Evan may not have been on the subs bench but he was there in spirit tonight

Realistically we didn't test their keeper after the sub. It was his PL debut and Brentford have the worst away record in the league but I can hardly remember a real opportunity once Flecken went off.

Don't understand why we just didn't go into target practice mode and just have a go at every opportunity.

So frustrating.

We are criminally overplaying. Sometimes, just sometimes whip an early cross in, sometimes shoot first time. It does, I'm afraid remind me of the first couple of years of Potter at the moment. I'm sure it'll come good if we are patient but it's bloody frustrating.
Dunk basically admitted that in his post match interview.
