Hmm.

Not sure I put much value in the opinions of a builder from Surrey when it comes to psychologically evaluating the effects of trauma on a female.

Bit of a silly article in my opinion. No real insight. Not particularly enlightening.

So she got herself through an airport. Kids can do all sorts under coercion.

Whether I think she should be allowed into the country or not is by the by regarding this article.

At 15 she was vulnerable by default.

I’d be more questioning of the motives of an adult male who decided to make friends with her. Frankly, he comes across as quite a creepy bloke.

At the very least, he is totally unqualified to give any meaningful appraisal of a person who has lost three children and seen the things she has seen and taken part in. Culpable or not.
My main takeaway from that article was that if I said "I've been to the moon" the bloke writing it would have been to Mars. As my mate would say, a classic two shits.

Shame she didn’t just die out there. The financial cost of this single case must be astronomical, money that could be better spent on more worthy asylum seekers and many many other better priorities. Like potholes…

Couldn't agree more with your second sentence. I do wonder who made this case so different from all the other cases (approx 400 currently) of British citizens coming back having supported (or, like the majority, actually fought) for ISIS and have been dealt with by the British judiciary ???

Who cares ? Spend that money

Shemima Begum- Should she be allowed to return to the UK

Personally I think she should have returned to the UK for a number of reasons, she was only 15 she clearly is not the brightest having not finished school and was radicalised here in the UK she stupidly went to the Islamic State and was married off twice three children all died along with the two husbands she has been through and experienced far more than any young woman should have.
She unfortunately is our problem and we should not abandon her to become another country’s problem it’s irresponsible instead She should return face the law here and if found guilty face what ever punishment is deemed appropriate
She should then undergo de-radicalisation and if successful make a great trainer for prisons and schools

Exactly. She did something very stupid as a silly 15 year old.
it was our systems that failed her. All we are doing is abdicating responsibility for what went wrong.
We should be bringing her back to sort her out, including punishing if deemed appropriate.

Disagree, doing something very stupid as a 15 year old is raiding your parents spirits cabinet, doing a bit of shoplifting, casual vandalism, taking drugs.

What is another level is conspiring, with friends, to leave this country illegally yo join a sick death cult which revelled in beheading anyone they felt deserved it, and the attempted mass race and extermination of an entire people.

There will never be any trial, what evidence does anyone think we are ever going to recover from Syria ? Fantasyland.

Whilst I'm not entirely comfortable with removing citizenship, she, in effect removed herself from us by signing up all in to a different state, the Islamic State. Does anyone think she was shouting from the Syrian rooftops that she was a British Citizen ? She'd have been delighted if Islamic State had triumphed, this country went Islamic and all us unbelievers were killed. She gives less than a shit about anyone on here, and for me that's reciprocal.

Except you don’t know how much she has been brainwashed since she was 15.

That is exactly what our systems and society ideally should have picked up and countered.
And I am just entirely uncomfortable with the idea of anybody being rendered stateless.

Her parents/family failed her more than the system, they need to take a large chunk of the blame here.

Better for her safety she stays out in Syria anyway. With the lynch mob mentality seen going on at the moment she'd almost certainly been attacked or killed if she were to return. As much as I disagree with what she did, she is safer where she is.

Good. Hope that’s the last we hear of her and she can move on with her life and not trouble the British public or press again.
