No of course not, but as other posters have suggested this young lady is different, she chose to go overseas to join a terror organisation who were and to this day continue to present a clear and present danger to not only the citizens of this country but citizens of many others too. f*** her and let this be a clear message of how one can be expect to be treated if they choose a similar path.

If someone is thick enough to answer an advert in the back of "Readers Rockets" for a terrorist gig in Syria they deserve everything they get I'm afraid. If you don't get your citizenship revoked for that, what exactly are you going to get your citizenship revoked for?

Totally agree, it was all over the news what ISIS was doing, murdering and beheading aid workers and other Westerners as well as those poor Yazidis. She wanted to be part of that organisation, and if it hadn't been defeated in Syria she would likely still have been part of it with its twisted West hating ideology. She can rot there as far as I'm concerned

To make it clear, I have no sympathies for her, however the part I disagree with is that Britain didn't 'dump' the problem on Syria when they withdrew her citizenship.
If a Syrian who was a terrorist sympathiser entered Britain illegally, should Syria be allowed to revoke their citizenship and 'dump' the problem on Britain to resolve ? I believe that in that situation it should be down to Syria to resolve. And, therefor, she is Britain's problem to resolve
But I've made my point, so I'll leave it to the Burn Her Brigade

Not sure I put much value in the opinions of a builder from Surrey when it comes to psychologically evaluating the effects of trauma on a female.
Bit of a silly article in my opinion. No real insight. Not particularly enlightening.
So she got herself through an airport. Kids can do all sorts under coercion.
Whether I think she should be allowed into the country or not is by the by regarding this article.
At 15 she was vulnerable by default.
I’d be more questioning of the motives of an adult male who decided to make friends with her. Frankly, he comes across as quite a creepy bloke.
At the very least, he is totally unqualified to give any meaningful appraisal of a person who has lost three children and seen the things she has seen and taken part in. Culpable or not.

I don’t understand how , at 15, some children are given sympathy and understanding for being the victims of grooming, and some others are vilified to the point of having their legal status removed from them.

What is the difference between Shemima and the hundreds of British citizens who went to fight for ISIS and have now been repatriated back in the UK ( imprisoned/ deradicalised)?
The only difference seems to be that the Home Office found out she had a possible claim for Banglieshi citizenship because of her mother ( and her age at the time) and this would be a ‘good’ political opportunity to ‘come down hard’ on anyone who left the Country to fight for ISIS. She did not, according to Bangledesh and so was rendered de facto stateless by the HO’s decision. Clearly illegal but a moral maze in terms of her terrorist activities.
Mob rule dictates that she deserves everything she gets in Syria and shouldn’t be allowed home. Morality dictates that anyone supporting ISIS should not have the support of British public. A Country governed by the rule of law however needs to find other ways of accepting the responsibility of dealing with home grown terrorists who join foreign conflicts - including giving them an opportunity to respond to charges of terrorism by trying them in the UK. Otherwise it’s legal jeopardy without a remedy which is contrary to the rule of Law.

It was purely because of her young age that the Javid’s ruling was judged to be retrospectively legal. Her right to Bangladeshi citizenship was purely by virtue of her Bangladeshi born parents and the fact Begum was still under 21 at the time she wanted to return to the UK.
Leaving her to rot in a Syrian prisoner camp I don’t think is going to improve Muslim relations in the UK and does seem to have been a decision that has pandered to public opinion.
The political motivations for stripping Muslims of their British citizenship can’t be ignored either and will be seen by some members of the Muslim community in Great Britain as evidence of an inherent Islamophobia in counter-terrorism policy:

The governments claim this was all to do with national security is utterly false.

Shame she didn’t just die out there. The financial cost of this single case must be astronomical, money that could be better spent on more worthy asylum seekers and many many other better priorities. Like potholes…
