Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed the signing of Congo striker Nsungu Ndumbu, subject to international clearance.

The youngster has impressed boss Chris Turner in a trial period at Hillsborough and Wednesday have agreed a season-long loan deal with French club Amiens.

Turner told the Sheffield Star: "He's a 20-year-old forward who has been with us for three days.

"We're very impressed with him. He's done very well. He's been at Bolton and was going to go to a First Division club but we nipped in just in time. He has good pace and ability."

Proudlock isn’t a Premiership player so I can see why Wolves are happy to let him go. But I think he has proved in recent seasons that he can do a job in the first. So it is likely that he will prove to be a success again for Wednesday in the second (as he was in the first for them last season).

I remember that ad Mr Popkins - it was a cartoony one, sung really fast in a deep voice wasn't it ? Thanks for reviving a treasured childhood memory (and filling me in on the lyrics, which I always struggled to decipher).

I'm here to save you all:

The Um Bongo song on mp3
http://www.umbongo.com/mp3/um_bongo_lo.mp3

The lyrics:
Way down deep in the middle of the Congo, a hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango. He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty tango.

The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo", Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo.

The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin. The parrot painted packets, that the whole caboodle landed in.

So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle, They all prefer the sunny funny one they call Um Bongo! etc...
