I'm going a week Friday with the missus. Looking forward to some good diving. (No not that sort, we're married for goodness sake).

I'm staying at the Four Seasons, never been before but it's meant to be amazing. Looking forward to quad biking in the desert, supposed to be the nuts. A mate came back last week and said it's still 28 degrees out there so good time to go.

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency, it's a really nice place and the staff are great. Rip off to eat and drink there in the evening though, best to get a cab into the resort centre.

For the real diving experience... I would recommend the Camel Dive Hotel... right in the middle of Naama Bay, 5 mins walk from the dive boats on the jetty, decent training pool... lots of decent local restaurant, bars and shops, beach nearby (which not great but not a priority on a diving holiday). The meal at the courtyard curry restaurant in the centre of the hotel and then chilling on the roof bar are a top quality evening experience!

Hoping to go back in Feb half term.

My aunt and uncle went about a month ago and said it was full of Russians who are even worse than Germans when it comes to taking all the towels and stealing all the sunbeds!

We stayed in The Sheraton, fantastic, for a beach holiday.
The reef went out for about 50 foot. There was a pontoon to walk over it, then you dropped in, turned to face the hotel & you were confonted with a sheer face of coral reef.
I spent so long in the water, I developed gills!.

I just got back from Hurghada last Friday - week on a liveaboard - a bit chilly out at sea due to the wind and it's a 7mm semi-dry in the water. Still nice and hot on the land during the day though, can sit out sunbathing in shorts etc. but need jeans and a sweater in the evening.

Blimey. I've never dived in anything that thick before, got goose bumps just thinking about it. Coldest water I've dived in was off the southern tip of South Africa and after that decided I prefered tropical climes.

Been to the Hilton Fayrouz in Naama Bay, and the Hilton Sharks Bay.

Out of those 2, I prefer Sharks Bay, not much of a beach there, but it's a private one and the coral is right there.
The Fayrouz has a bigger beach, but it's a public one.

As for diving, a 5mm full suit should be sufficient. Been back from Nuweiba a couple of weeks or so, and a 3mm shorty was good enough.

Much prefer Nuweiba though for our hols (3 or 4 times a year). Much quieter, skr80 will testify to that.

yep, Hilton Neweiba superb for a chill out holiday. I have been to Sharm several times, and don't plan on heading back there anytime soon. The place is very touristy now - you could be anywhere in Europe. That said, the food is good in terms of variety suitable to the UK palette, and the hotels I have been to were very good (Hilton / Movenpick). The beach in Sharm is good, as is the coral if it hasn't died off too much more due to the motor boats and people stomping on it.

As per Everest, I prefer Neweiba and am heading back there end Feb for another chillout...

Agree with the poster above about the Camel Club, head to the roof top bar in the evenings, it's great.

Wherever you go, you will be hugely outnumbered by large, sunburnt Russians, I think it must be their equivalent to Ibiza.
