Meopham, Kent.
Khan is desperately trying to change history about what happened. He's been full of it being "a few minutes" when in fact the Pakistan team were in the dressing room rather than the pitch for about 45 minutes, and only showed up at all 20 minutes AFTER Hair had signalled the end of the match by removing the bails. Twice the umpires tried to get them out on the field and they refused.

Then Khan suggested that damage to the ball could have been caused by Pietersen hitting those massive sixes. yeah, nice try fella, but he did that with the ball that hadn't been tampered with, the previous one wasn't hit for 6.

Just wait and see, within a couple of weeks Khan's story of the day will be unrecognisable from the events we saw on telly.

Perhaps a gross generalisation, stirred up by the media?

Not when the President of Pakistan wades in and gives hhis two penneth it isn't. Sport and Politics don't mix as has been many times before. Don't think the press are overreacting this time although some cricketers maybe.

Stupid game anyway.

It was gripping telly,though.

Chelsea were rooking Man City on the other channel, but the fascination was in that closed door at the Oval.

Marvelous stuff!

I do agree, though, that revisionism was raising its ugly head via the Pakistan officials. And quickly!

It is a very difficult one this and I think Inzy handles it terribly.

When DH called him over at 2:30 odd, he should have made a bigger point at the time, I am very surprised he did not. At tea time, they obviously were making a protest, but I would have said to the match referee that we would be protesting for half an hour and then when our point had been made, we could have got on with winning the game. This obviously did not happen and hence DH was allowed to call the game to England.

The two crickert boards had nothing to do with anything and shouldn't have got involved, especially not ours it was an issue with the match referee an( ICC) and the pakistan captain.

On the other hand, looking at it from the pakistan point of view, they were accused of cheating arbiterally. DH seemed to indicate that the ball had been scratched, but didnt point at anyone who had done it...theerfore it was a slur on the whole team. Under those circumstances, i would have taken my players off and not come back until "evidence " had been provided.

It is not as black and white as you paint Frank

But by your final comment you think its a stupid game anyway, so the above will go straight over your head

Abort, retry, fail
Quite right, Dave. Badly handled by both Hair and Inzy.

What would have been nice to see was perhaps the ball being swapped immediatly and then study footage whilst the cricket continues, with a suitable punishment dished out when evidence of deliberate cheating was confirmed.

DH acted 100% within the law, therefore the ball could not have arbitarily been changed without a reason.

So it would all have kicked off anyway

Cricket go above my head ? On the contary, it's well beneath me. How can a game played by so few nations spark a possible international incident ? I would love to hear Tony Blair's response to President Pervez Musharraf's statement. The outcome could very well be that Pakistan slows down its efforts to weed out potential terrorists. Clearly the Pakistani people are agrieved.
