Isn't it just the case of reverting back to the norm.

Even with exquisite dead ball specialists in the team, the Albion have always been poor at set pieces.
They were the only attacking outlet last season and fortunately Dunk made the most of it.

Now the team have gone back to the days of Spanish Dave & Orlandi booting the ball straight at the wall or first man from a corner.

It wasn't a vintage performance by any means.

But we won. Away. In October. And Bobby scored.

They were some terrible final balls though.

I'll be honest - I posted this at 1-1 in the hope of something happening to make me look silly.

It's still a valid point, esp corners, which have been woeful this season.

Fair point even though we won. Stephens dead ball skills today were shocking and that is an area which we could improve on. We do get a fair amount corners but never look threatening. Although if we can win without them who cares, although it would be nice to score a few more! Seagulls!!'

Stephens and March had about 15-20 opportunities to get decent delivery into the area and barely gave any service to the front two. Great to get the win today as we'll soon have LuaLua and Murphy back

Face it, Albion corners have ALWAYS been crap. Low point was at Withdean was when Charlie Oatway would trot over for some imagined skill short corner only eventually to be met with a torrent of 'Furk Off Charlie!' abuse. Last free kick expert we had was Chippy. That's a LONG time ago now. LuaLua looked promising for a while in that direction but that's sort of fizzled out now. Big oversight tactically, a free kick on the edge of the box SHOULD be worth a few goals a season, COULD make the difference between success and failure. Long overdue for sorting out IMHO.

Maybe we should have two dummy runners like Leeds did. Or take it to the next level and have three of them.

Yup. Bring back that brill corner combo: Hyypia, Holla and Dunk.
Leeds' set pieces were great today. I did like that Cook. Proper player.

Agree - Leeds' free kicks were clever and well executed. Three players over the ball. Inswinger? No, outswinger? no, inswinger. Caught us out every time. We don't seem to work on that sort of stuff.

As discussed with my Leeds supporting best mate, with the exception from their ball in to the box from the free-kick where they scored and one corner in the second half for us where we had three players in a line and one got a foot to it before it was cleared off the line, set-pieces were appalling today for both sides.

Our best corner and free kick take is Holla. It's a shame that the rest of his game isn't even close to the level of Stephens or Kayal.

Ah, good call, completely forgot about Darren Currie, who tried to SCORE off every in-swinging corner he ever took.
I got Skybet to quote me for Vincente to score direct from a corner, and they offered me really crappy odds.
I didn't take the bet but it was bloody close as in the next game he had one cleared by the near post defender.
