there was a situation where LLoyd was under instruction not to play certain players and Iovan wa sone of them.It realted to appearance and win bonus moneys.

LLoyd took a lot of stick at the time ( I was very much a LLoyd hater) but when you hear it from the horses mouth just what wa sgoing on behind the scenes, you just realise just how much you do not know bout the workings and politics of a football club

Demonstates his complete lack of backbone.:nono:

I suppose you have to be pragmatic. If you told them to f*** off, it was your job and you are depending on owners /directors to give you another job, then I assume you have to be careful, or you wont get another job!

So is the man ever to be trusted. What happens the next time he acts in a particular way just to save his job?

Being reported that one of the finest players to wear the stripes, Sergei Gotsmanov is seriously ill with latter stages Parkinson’s.

Remember his all to brief stay with us as a brilliant ball player so far better than anything we had at the time

Remember the goal ( was it stoke) where he dribbled past 5 players and the keeper to slot into the south stand net with his arms raised up!

Sad news

I thought it was Hull, maybe Plymouth, where he went round the keeper and celebrated before scoring.

Hull....Plymouth..... easily confused, I suppose. Are you Arsenal U21's coach driver by any chance?:lolol:
without checking, I remember Gotsmanov scoring that goal, but can't specifically say who it was against. Weirdly I know we played both of those teams close together because I remember seeing the goals on "Saint and Greavsie", and I remember Jimmy Greaves making a joke about Gotsmanov celebrating.

As a teenage Communist I was already a fan as he got a winner at Wembley. When I was living in Forest Gate, I received a postcard with Sergei in BHA kit at the Goldstone. I thought it was an incredible hoax, a mate known as Hippy had sent it and pretended to be Sergei - claiming he had chosen the Albion thanks to the amount of Commies that support them. He didn't fail to impress and is probably up there with Zamora and Vicente for stamping their absolute class in seconds.

Sergei Gotsmanov was the Vicente of the 80s Goldstone era

We just couldn't really believe we had managed to sign the guy - and he didn't let us down.
