Will come in handy for those going to St James's Park as nobody will be able to tell when a player is 5 millimetres offside from where they're standing.

What’s wrong with a linesman ? If the human eye can’t see it, then it didn’t ought to matter.
We have had the clear blue sky discussion passim. And ad nauseam.
No bugger will listen to us (or the likes of Wenger, the first 'name' to suggest it).
The decision making committees are arse-hats, with the loudest voice (the least pissed present) holding sway.

the thing about VAR offsides v Assistant Ref offsides (if operated correctly) is, that unless they are in line with both the kicker of the ball, and the receiver of the ball, how in a close call can they tell? Generally the ast refs are in front of the ball, keeping up with the forward players, so how do they know the exact instant the pass is kicked to be able to judge offside for the players who may be 20 yards or more in front of the ball?

Did you not watch football pre VAR? That was the reason VAR was talked about, it was awful.
Yes i did and no it wasn't awful, it was real and not governed by machines who are not accurate enough to give 100% correct decisions. VAR was sold to fans that it would correct CLEAR AND OBVIOUS ERRORS not to find a miniscule way to disallow goals or find a forensic way to award penalties
