Swansman what do you think about koeman? I notice he doesn't seem to be linked with spurs or Newcastle. Always rated him as a manager. Think he would do a good job at Brighton

I think we should announce that we've decided we're a big club now, Mr Potter has a contract and he's staying.
More to the point, I think it eminently possible that he may want to stay and see this project through.
If it was money, it'd be Newcastle and it won't be.
If it was 'success' it'd be one of the top European teams - and I think his next move may well be to mainland Europe.
I want him to stay for ever.

I think he is a good manager but there is severe costs to bringing him in anywhere, namely that he will treat everyone he doesnt like as non-humans. Dont think he is someone who should coach Brighton the day Potter moves away. Suspect the next Brighton manager will be someone few have heard of.
Or the second time around.

Conte situation is confusing. He turned them down in the summer. Spurs have no money. Conte likes to be in control (won't get that at spurs).

Spurs have access to plenty of money, they just (rightly so IMO) didn't want to spend it if they could help it.
I can imagine these negotiations will involve a few concessions to Conte's (rumoured) demands. Levy's not going to like having to go back, cap in hand, after the talks broke down but he doesn't have much choice.
Signing him now is going to be more costly than what Levy was prepared to pay in the summer - whether it's a bigger salary, more control, a bigger backroom entourage, more favourable contract clauses, a bigger transfer fund or a combination of all.
It's going to be funny to watch, that's for sure.

It's not that confusing I suppose. Conte was out of work in May and probably thought he had the pick of any top job in the world at that time. Spurs were probably feeling they had more options than just going for Conte and his huge demands at that time.
Fast forward 4 months, top jobs have come and gone for Conte, he's still out of work, no call from Barca or anyone else, and Spurs have a managerial debacle on their hands. Both are in very different positions than they were in back in June. It might well be that Spurs are happy to give up a little more control than they were, and Conte work with a little less control than he wanted.

As said above, it's not just cap in hand for Spurs, Conte doesn't have the queue of top suitors he thought or expected he would have. He knows the longer he is out of the game, the more his name slips down the top jobs list. Don't think Conte is the big catch right now, he probably has his cap in hand as much as Spurs do.

If Potter left tomorrow, highly likely we would seek to prise Russel Martin away from Swansea, but long term I think the aim is to bring coaches on in the same way we try to bring players on, ideally former players like Bruno and Crofts, I think Lallana is doing his badges too, and if Potter is here for a while, his replacement could be from within.
