I'm extremely worried we didn't get New Zealand to follow on. I got 15/8 for England to win this test match yesterday lunchtime. The forecast doesn't look great however we are now 1/6 to get the Headingley victory so the bookies have faith. Hope we declare around tomorrow lunchtime and take a risk......

Suspect we did not force the follow on to enable our top order to have some batting practice.

So what sort of lead do people think England should be looking for before declaring? Bearing in mind the crap weather forecast for tomorrow, I reckon we should try and slap them about a bit this morning, extending the lead from 296 up to about 400, then get them in before lunch.

I would agree with that as I cant see NZ scoring 400+

Nor can I but we will probably not declare before the total is 450. We always seem to play to a "safe " total rather than giving the opposition any sort of chance. But you never know.

biting my nails a bit, as went large on the draw for just under evens.
in a very unpatriotic, (and thinking of my bank balance) way, i'm quite suprised and happy that it looks like england are going to bat for a while longer...

Probably will be nearer 450. There was no point in batting again if we weren't going to absolutely batting them out of the game. May be proved wrong but I think we are assuming the weather is fine tomorrow and basing the target on that.

This suggests a good batting wicket at the moment so would expect Cook to carry on after lunch for an hour or so to make sure they do not have a realistic target to aim at.
