After Robinson scoring his couple of hat tricks, and at last, stepping up a level a few weeks ago, I feel he has slipped back to his old ways. Poor anticipation, not playing off of Revell.....and generally dis-interested, unless he gets ball to feet in space. He,s only very young, but he really needs to apply himself far more consistently.

I thought it was only me that thought he hasnt applied himself in recent games...based on recent performances he is not good enough even at league one level

We didn't seem to have a plan for getting back in the game when 1-0 or even 2-0 down. Robinson may as well have been subbed for all he contributed when moved wide. But I thought Revell was good, full of running, just not enough of the ball.
The men of the match were Hammond and El-Abd, both looked very at ease against higher level players.
At no point throughout the game did I feel we would score which is pretty sad really.

That's my summing up as well. How long is since we won a game away after going 1-0 down? Didn't someone say 5 years?

I'm not normally one to moan and in general I think most of the lads aquitted themselves well today but I was very dissapointed with Deano switching to 4-5-1 when we went 2-0 down. We let in 2 bad goals but it's a cup game and there's no point whatsoever being happy with losing 2-0.

I'd rather have seen us go for it and lose by 5 than settle for going out like that. I just feel that with 5k people having made the effort to go, we should have kept trying to get a result when it was only 2-0? Anyone else got an opinion?

Wilkins does seem to lean towards the 'leading from the back' tactic. He's definitely reticent to get numbers forward, relying on solo forays by lonely forwards. We even go defensive when we have throw-ins in their half, and can't do anything useful with set pieces.

ohhh DEEEAN

Unfair on JR imo. When the ball is not in his area, I don't believe he should be required to join a mass chase for the ball and leave his position. Robinson ESPECIALLY should maintain his position, and it's also especially wrong to criticise him when he is the ONLY striker.

When was he the ONLY striker? He wasn't the only striker at any point yesterday, he was the one moved to the wing cos he was doing sweet FA up front!

I applaud them when they deserve it...yesterday they didn't.
PS and I'm not your friend.

I'm sorry fella but you are wrong to say they didn't deserve your applause. I wasn't impressed with Robinson not winning challenges that were probably 70/30 in his favour but other than that I don't think you can say the players didn't try! The players not pushing forward to try and get back into the game was a coaching decision, not a lack of player effort! :dunce:

Oh I was only responding to what someone had said earlier, about his staying forward alone or summat. The following criticism (as I quoted in that post) was then answered with my saying it's unfair to expecting him to stray into the fray.

I wasn't there yesterday, so it was a general response to what someone else had posted - not an observation about yesterdays' performance at all.

JR seems to have lost a bit of confidence, which is not surprising for a young player. Perhaps if Elder plays against Brizzle, and Jake has a chance to rest himself, then he may come back a better player.

Revell is popular because he works his socks off for the team. Jake will never be that type of player, and it is not fair to expect him to play in a role to which he is clearly not suited.

Why? You say he's not that type of player but why should he get away with not making intelligent runs and not going in for any sort of contestible(is that a word??) tackle? To me he shirks out of more challenges that Brooker used to and his size is no excuse, just look at Coxy!
