Dean White, aka the clown, issued this statement about seb carole on his interview:

'He can do fantastic things on the ball and create chances to score goals. He came on and created the goal straight away.'

WELL WHY didn't you start him in the first place them, everyone was calling for it too! :ban:

Because if you listen just after, he said he is a liability as well, which he is as he doesnt provide much cover for the defenders, very lightweight!

He is very much an impact player for me, good going forward, awful getting back

Surely there has to be a reason why he is always on the bench, because every game he comes on in, he completely changes the game and lokks one of the best players on the pitch.
Maybe he still lacks match fitness?

he is the best winger we have.
he is not match fit yet though that is why i think they are not playing him for the full 90 minutes.

He is a luxury player imo, and I'm not sure we can afford one at the moment. I'd leave him as an impact sub until such time as the team has confidence. He is without a doubt one of the most skilfull players I have ever seen in the stripes, shame he can't defend.

Disclaimer. I haven't seen him this time round and the above is based on my views the last time he was here. Has he changed?

It is interesting how the first post only give half of the quoite. DW explained exactly why Carole did not start:

"Seb is a player that can win you games. He is great going forward but he can be at times a liability defensively. He can do fantastic things on the ball and create chances to score goals. He came on and created the goal straightaway."

As others have said, you've conveniantly just taken one half of the quote to use as a stick to beat White with - completely unjustified in this instance.

I agree that personally I would use Carole as a substitute, especially when our home confidence is so low and any goal conceded seems to become a mountain to climb. Nothing wrong with bringing him on after 60 or 70 minutes to really work the defence as they tire. I can't remember ever seeing Carole be effective for a full 90 minutes.

Still in Brighton
i don't remember his first touch and control being so good last time he was here?! the games i've seen him in this season he has, technically, looked a league above the rest of them.

still, i think his best use is as an impact sub for the last half hour. either that, or start him and sub him when he inevitably fades.

I haven't included the first part of the quote because i don't agree with it. He should be used as an attacking winger, leaving him minimal responsibility to track back too often. Is it me, or does every midfield player have to play a major role in defence?

Fair enough, however the fact you left it out did somewhat reduce the validity of your arguement (in my opinion).

For what its worth I actually agree with Dean White (which isn't usual), however I'm sure it isn't anything that a few decent training sessions can't sort out.

To be honest although i may be ridiculed for this i reckon Mcleod is better than carole. Most times he has played for us he has scored and i think he is a better crosser than cox and carole and the only one with a left foot. Also Birchall looks like he can put in a good cross and would go with him and Mcleod although I still think he would be quality in the middle with Jarret.

at the moment I would play mcleod and carole ahead of cox.....can see no point in the luxury of a winger who can't cross the ball when you have two big strikers in the middle

Carole should be in the starting line up and if need be then bring on McLard or Tiny if he looks a bit knackered after 70 minutes.

With Whing and McNulty going forward as much as they do in support of the attack play, can you really play someone who doesn't track back and help when the opposition counter attack (the cause of a lot of goals we have conceeded this season - conter attacks, not Carole failing to track back i mean)

You may not agree with the tactic, but that is what it is and that is why managers are paid to make those types of decisions, after all their jobs live and die by these type of choices. Everyone may not agree with their decisions, and they may not always work, but that doesn't mean they are clueless, or were wrong in what they did, it just didn't work that time.

What would you be saying if Carole had started, we'd beeen beaten and Carole failing to retreat and defend had contributed to the loss?

How does trying to undermine the current coaching staff help our predicament? - what if the new manager, whoever that may be decides to keep White and Brooker on, after all, White has been here a long time, worked under alot of managers here and non have seen fit to dispense with his services so he must do something right.

Just because you have decided you dislike him for whatever reason doesn't mean everyone else does or has to, It amazes me how many "fans" we have who now think they are experts at football management, think that they know everything (or deserve to know everything) that goes on at the club, How do you know what he does behind the scenes or in training.

He is a part of the current set up at the club, and while here, deserves our support.
