Le Season billet est arrive.

Now we have to have our photo taken for next year. :thud:

I got mine yesterday & also noticed the comment about the photo on the membership card for next season. Something to do with new turnstile technology.

My thoughts are, if they intend to introduce this for next season, why waste any more money on upgrading the turnstiles at Withdean when we will be leaving in a couple of seasons. Will this be an expensive & unnecessary trial-run for new turnstile technology to be tested before implementation at Falmer?

Also, what is the purpose of introducing photo-ID membership cards, other than to add to the increasing use of photo recognition as a way of bringing in National Photo-ID cards by stealth?

I'm not totally against photo-ID in principle, but who's going to pay for it?

Thoughts/comments please.

I trust that this is not a move towards only allowing the person named on the ST to enter the ground using it, a lot of STHs (me included) regularly give / sell tickets that they cannot use to family / friends.

Reading have a swipe card ticket entry system which members (incl STHs) have paid for matches loaded onto and which you then swipe to gain entry to the ground - for example, having bought a ticket to the Chelsea game next Wednesday this info is now stored on my Member card which will gain me entry to the ground for that game. There is no record of the seat number anywhere that I can see apart from the confirmatory e.mail - although if I forget where to sit a steward can swipe the card & gain the info. There is no picture on the card so anyone can use it although it does flash up the type of ticket being used on a screen so is difficult to gain access using a junior ticket if clearly not a junior and a Steward is watching.

For STHs this system is obviously far less flexible in terms of moving tickets on as there is no way that you would trust your member card to a complete stranger but you would sell them a paper ticket.

and will the photo ID requirement be required for ALL ticket holders or Just STH's. ?

If not, that 's just plain discrimination against STHs.

As it's promised for the Gold Cards I imagine that it will only be STHs - or are they planning on issuing other colour cards as well?

Anyway we happily accept the positive discrimination of ticket priority & superfan status (being regarded as saviours of the club), etc so I would see no reason why we shouldn't feel priviledged that the club wish to "recognise" us in this way.

Yesterday I got a ticket with my name & address on it & nothing else. Received in a 'sorry we damaged your mail' bag from Royal Mail. Today I got another 'sorry we damaged.....' bag, this time containing the envelope, ripped into 4 pieces & taped backed together. Still no tickets or gold card or whatever else was in there!!!
As I have some contacts at Gatwick mail centre, my sources tell me that there are several sets of season tickets there, with no addresses on, that have come out of their envelopes.
So, if you haven't got yours yet...............?
