I would fully expect the sth's to be priority and treated higher in the food chain than me

They are higher in the food chain

1. GUARANTEED a ticket for home cup games

2. FAR GREATER chance of tickets for away cup games

its the same principle whether you are selling tickets for a football game or cod and chips, the product has to be good and the loyal repeat customers should be made to feel a bit special

Exept that football is not like any other business, all football clubs rely on the unwavering loyalty of their fans & just because one or two throw a paddy because they didn't get a free scarf they wont change. The loss leaders will always be aimed at the new/casual fans because they know, just as ernest says, that once the club is in your blood its hard to get it out.

I tend to agree with that....although certainly not representative of the Albion support in general, the comments on here of people like Portlock Seagull is a worrying one for the club as presumably was the gate on Saturday. If we are falling behind the 6000 breakeven ( I think that is what Ed said) and only 5100 turn up with some of them getting in on the bring a kid for a quid then we are hemmoraging money at an alarming rate and with crowd expectation of new signings, its a very difficult balancing act the board are managing.

Above it was suggested that the board are not doing a good job...I actually think they are doing a remarkable job considering the circumstances.

They are doing a good job, but as you say, it is under ridiculous cricumstances.

Of the £23.50 for a ticket, £3.50 goes in VAT, £4 for transport and £5 as rent to the council. This leaves £11 to pay wages, make signings, invest in the facilities and pay for the ongoing inquiries and appeals.

So, just to spell it out for the hard of thinking: if this bollosky figure of £15 per ticket - which seems to be touted around by a number of gobshites at the moment - were to be introduced, the club would make £2.50 a ticket? That's TWO POUNDS FIFTY a ticket? ???

Well........ if we can manage to keep Pete Canning, Sarah Watts and Ernest alive until Falmer arrives the food sales alone may just get us there.

from a gate of 5100, if we have 4000 sth , 100 from port vale, 400 in the family stand & roughly 100 in the argus stand that leaves only 400 full price tickets sold to casual fans.surely it makes sense to sell the "left over" tickets for £15 or whatever. 3000 x £2.50 is better than 3000 x nothing. And before anyone asks yes I have got a st but would rather see tickets sold cheap than empty seats

I think that sets a very dangerous precedent. There would be a dramatic decline in STHs and I suspect there are not a great deal of us floating fans, that go to most/all games.

I am going to get a ST next season as I have only missed two home games this season and it makes sense to sit in the same seat, as opposed to being bounced around. Plus, I would be able to get a Swindon Play Off ticket if that ever happened again. Bit slow on the uptake last time and had to settle for the pub.

But if that was the case, why wouldn't everyone without a season ticket just buy their tickets as late as possible?

Why would it upset STH? We get a ticket at a discount rate anyway plus the guarantee of the same seat at each match which we have chosen. I would love to see empty seats filled and if at £15 great but it would not make me give up my ST. I don't want the hassle of every match phoning for a ticket and not knowing where I will sit. The club rewards me for my paying up front with a discount on the price. Seems fair to me.

I don't think it would upset the majority (maybe it would?) and I commend your attitude, in putting the club first. However, I would think that there are STHs that are disillusioned by the escalating price (since the beginning of Withdean) and cheaper tickets would offset the loss of their own seat.

That is one major problem..(I have a Season Ticket ) at most games now you can get a discounted ticket either via the club or on NSC/outside the ground...with the ground so empty there is little benefit in parting with your money in March / April other than the convienence of not having to source a ticket for each game.
The club cant afford to get involved with discounting if the want to maintain pre season income.

All I can say is that at last Saturday's match 3 of us all said we were renewing our STs next season because we like where we sit in H Block. We all agreed that whilst we have seen very poor football over the past 3 years Football on a Saturday is what we do. Blimey, we would have to do shopping or gardening or DIY if we stayed at home.
:D
Incidentally around us 4 season ticket holders did give up at the end of last seaso. But those seats have been taken at every league match.

Oh I agree. Saturday in Brighton whilst the football is at home, must be horrible. I couldn't imagine not going, just through choice and without something else that takes precedent (Family/Work etc.)
