OMG have you read that, oh it makes my piss boil.
What were these people watching last year.
Don't they know...
... If we had won half the games we drew.
Won the games we lost but battered them.
Done the double over all the relegated teams.
Kept Solly and Lamptey fit.
Not been out coached in multiple half times.
We'd have finished 12th.
How dare they say bottom 6 Albion avoided relegation.

The Guardian's football weekly hits nearly all of the current cliches: Need a striker, Ben White a big miss, mention of Mwepu as if they've ever watched him play, Xg last year was good, other teams linked to Potter/Bissouma/anyone else the general football world thinks to be any good and therefore ill placed at Brighton. John Brewin predicts that we'll go down in 18th, but considering that he also predicts both Brentford and Burnley to finish 17th, I'm not sure how much effort he put into his predictions.

As an aside, most season previews I've seen, including this one, have Aston Villa having a very successful season, a few even predicting Europe or a top six spot. Yes they've made some signings, but a lot of people seem to be overlooking/underestimating one small thing: https://www.planetfootball.com/quic...rd-with-and-without-jack-grealish-in-2020-21/. The new boys will need to be quick out of the blocks, because after three winnable games in August their next two months looks brutal.

Given our current squad I’d say he is spot on but we do have some time to finish the jigsaw.
Top ten with our current injury ravaged squad is delusion imo
It is what it is, I am still delighted we are in the PL and playing great football though
We will go down at some stage and currently we are just as likely to go down as we have been for the last four seasons.

The Athletic have done a couple of prediction pieces. Albion were not mentioned by the panel when asked
"Who is in trouble this season ? " Burnley and Southampton and the "promoted teams" came up a few times. They weren't asked to predict the bottom 3.

In Andy Naylor's preview in the Athletic. He was also not asked where we would finish but he argued that anything above #14 "would be a good season". He's irked by those that trot out "they need a goal scorer" without any context and makes a good case as to why thats difficult for a club set up like Albion, he''s bullish about Potter, seems impressed by Mwepu, and says the big unknown is life without Ben White.

McNulty comes out with a classic bit of nonsense in that piece. Just try to follow the logic of the successive statements made:
1) Last year's 16th place was not a success;
2) Brighton could do a bit better this season if they sort out the goal scoring issue;
3) I predict that they'll finish 16th again (i.e. not doing a bit better, so presumably not sorting out the finishing then?)
4) This prediction (of finishing in the same place as last year) is based on them signing a striker (So we now need to sort the goal scoring issue to stay the same, rather than do a bit better?)
5) If they don't sign a striker, they'll struggle (Rather than finish in 16th which he now seems to be suggesting would be 'doing a bit better', not a struggle So a success then? Unlike last year's finish in exactly the same place).
It's like he's written an M.C. Escher painting.
